Breakfast Topic: Where will you level your Death Knight?
While Death Knights start at 55, by the time they get out of the Ebon Hold, which is the instanced newbie zone that delivers the epic story of how a Death Knight becomes a Death Knight, they should be level 57 with a few bubbles in. Level 57 is pretty cool, but it's far from the level 68 or so you'll need to get to Northrend, and it's not even the level 58 that most people consider the minimum for heading to Outland. So, what's a fresh Death Knight to do?
I'm taking my Beta Deathknight to Winterspring to start with. I figure that between Everlook, Starfall Village to the north, and Donova Snowden to the west, I should be able to get a good, solid mix of quests that'll allow me to hit 58 and decide if I'm ready for Outland -- Not to mention a Mechanical Yeti.
Of course, there's other options as well. Eastern Plaguelands offers the chance to use Rune of Lichbane and mess up a bunch of undead in the name of the Argent Dawn, plus you can have your 70 collect Savage Fronds, Bone Fragments, Cores of Elements, Dark Iron Scraps, and Crypt Fiend Parts for some quick experience as well.
With a good group, you could also hit up Scholomance and Stratholme for some revenge against the Scourge, maybe grabbing some Deathcharger's Reins or a Barov Peasant Caller along the way. Or you could trust in the power of the imba and try hitting Hellfire Peninsula straight up at 57.
Then again, this is Beta, so they could always just switch things up, add a few more levels gained in Ebon Hold, maybe. Still, it's likely we'll still have a while to go before we can hit all the new stuff, regardless. So if you're rolling a Death Knight, how are you planning to start the level grind?

Blizzard said that DK starting isn't completed yet, so I imagine hitting at least 58 before you are free to do whatever you want. If thats not the case, probably will stay at EPL/WPL.
Anyways, here's a great idea -
1. Make human death knight named Batman
2. Spend most of your time sitting on various rooftops
3. When some raid guild kills some boss, take the blame on you
4. Wait until someone makes troll rogue with white face markings named Joker
5. ???
6. Profit!

Totally agree on this one.
Btw, Y so SRS?

LOL@ BBC.
"Do you wanna know how I got these scars ... ?"

Myabe it sounds like a fun idea.
But why would you not go directly to outland when you ding 58 is beyond reason. The first three pieces of quest gear are better than MC gear that dropped.
1. Ding 58
2. Drop every quest you have
3. Go straight to outland
4. Win

I plan on creating a Deathknight at launch and parking it in an inn until I've reached 80 with at least one character. By the time I'm actually leveling a Death Knight, I should be able to get to 58 from the starting area alone, and just rush Outland for the next ten levels.

Me likey this plan

Thats quite an interesting point. I normally try and level all my alts with rested exp. I'll certainly be creating my DeathKnight on day 1 of the expansion but i think i'll be leveling my main to 80 first. Means it'll have plenty of time to get full rested bonus.
In any case, i've never ever taken any of my characters to outlands before lvl 60. I look at it this way. Theres a ton of quests in Azeroth and for the most part, its free exp. Got my Shaman to 61 before even hitting Hellfire, by the time i completed all the quests in the zone (hellfire) i was 63.
A lot of people will probably criticize this method but it worked fine for my priest and shaman. I didn't feel it was slower either.

That's a damn good idea, and something I'll now be doing as well :)

Amen brother. 3/4 of my 70's were rest xp the whole way. I just played alts while I got rested or went into a bg. I mean really how much rest xp was I losing by bg'ing for a few hours a week. Helped get into some decent epics when I dinged and also helped with money. Blades Edge, Netherstorm and shadowmoon valley for straight cash munny. Whew. It's nice. :-)

That's pretty much what I've decided to do . . .

That is a good idea- but that gives me an even better idea-
immediately create a DK, find somewhere quiet to get him up to 60, and then go ahead and level an alt to let the rested XP build up. Rested bubbles in the 60-69 level range mean a lot more free xp than they do up to lvl 60.

That's my plan too...I tend to level slowly (don't have enough time to play for long stretches) so I'm going to get my 70 Warlock to 80 first so I can get in on some sweet Northrend raiding action! :P
As for the Death Knight, I'll probably level to 60 in the "old world" because I never saw the old end game stuff - when BC came out I was still a newbie. My Belf 'Lock is my first and only 70. I ran straight to Outland at 58 and never looked back. ;)

Yeah, i'm gonna get my DK out of the starting area, then rest him up while i level my main.
Mythor Jul 30th 2008 8:14AM
Isn't 58 the minimum level at which you can enter Outland via the Dark Portal? I thought that's why most people consider it the minimum to enter Outland...
Doing Western Plaguelands as Alliance would probably be worthwhile? It leads to some Eastern Plaguelands quests and ought to be fairly easy XP.
Of course all the Plaguelands areas will be swarming with DK's at launch so that may not be viable on the day of release.
Apophis Jul 30th 2008 8:28AM
You could ask a Mage/Warlock to port you there before you hit level 58.
Juneau Jul 30th 2008 9:41AM
You wont get any quests in Hellfire Peninsula before 58 afaik.
NeSuKuN Jul 30th 2008 9:52AM
all my chars had home set in shattrath before lvl 20 xD
my resto shaman started killing felboars at 54 (with extreme caution with the aggro radius xD)
Ramz Jul 30th 2008 8:17AM
blizzard said that the DK quests arent completed yet and that a DK will be able to go to outlands after their starting zone
agarwaen Jul 30th 2008 8:22AM
You can get just over 90,000 just from the cloth turn in quests if you do them for all 5 races of your faction. (and that is without the human bonus)
I already have all the cloth sitting in my alt's bank.
