The beta has been going for awhile now, and I've been absolutely infatuated with it. It's about time I share the wealth, as I've teased about doing on our
Twitter feed. The first zone I've put up an image gallery for is the
Howling Fjord, my personal favorite zone so far with the Dragonblight coming in at a close second. I really tried to capture some hotspots of the Fjord for this gallery, but I honestly gotta say you can't quite capture the magic in a picture.
Don't worry too much about plot spoilers, I don't think I've included anything earth shattering. All in all, it's really, really good eye candy and a preview of what's to come. We have plenty of galleries coming your way soon, throughout today and the days to come. Enjoy!

You say there are 4 flightpaths for each faction (3 alliance/horde, 1 neutral) alone in Howling Fjord...just how big is this zone?
Alex Ziebart Jul 30th 2008 9:19AM
Its big. Really, really big. I was blown away by just how big the zones are in Wrath.
Ragna Jul 30th 2008 9:22AM
That sounds amazing! We could use some nice big zones!

are my eyes playing tricks on me, or are the undead flight masters in the 2nd picture of the gallery breathing frost? if so, that's a pretty awesome graphical touch that helps get the point across that this place is cold (not that we needed proof or anything, but like i said, it's a sweet touch).

If you were to pick a zone in Azeroth to compare it to (or as close as you could) which one would it be, would it be say... the size of silithis and Un'goro combined?
Alex Ziebart Jul 30th 2008 9:25AM
I know it's not Azeroth, but if you tape Terokkar Forest to the bottom of Hellfire Peninsula that's my guess as to how big the Howling Fjord is. That could be completely inaccurate, though. I'm not really sure except that it's big.

About Valgarde. How is it the oldest, supposedly largest and most developed settlement (lore/story) turns out to be nothing more than 2 houses and a wall?
I know it is under siege, but where is the rest of that big town that should've been there? Anyone know?
Alex Ziebart Jul 30th 2008 10:36AM
Valgarde is more or less a new settlement in Wrath it seems, and the town does extend a bit further back then what you see in the gallery.
Arthas and his crew landed on the shore of the Dragonblight, so Valgarde is more recent.

That Tuskarr with the mustache...is his name Follie Ringers?
calmkiller Jul 30th 2008 10:47AM
Hellfire has 4 Flight Paths in it as well. Is it comparable in size?

I swear that I try not to let anticipation and excitement take too much of a hold on me, but seeing these screens and reading all this news about beta.. well..
ICANTWAITICANTWAITICANTWAITICANTWAIT..
Glad I got that out... Ahem..
Any news on release date? I keep hearing November being thrown around, but that seems a little over-ambitious, especially with Blizzards history of pushbacks.
