My favorite blue poster in the
Customer Service Forums has to be
Belfaire. He's always got something smart and funny to say, usually in response to annoying forum trolls and others trying hard to be upset about a game. Besides his witty and crazy remarks, he also likes to drop all of us little bits of information here and there. Such is the case in a post today.
Belfy confirmed that the next round of Beta invites will be sent out "around" Friday, August 1st "and on." This is another chance for more people to get into the beta. With some luck you might be able to run around and explore the wonders of
Northrend. All previous waves of invites have included both BlizzCon, WWI, and Opt-In people.
Check your email on the 1st! And check it often! You might just get one. And if you haven't yet, be sure to sign up for the Beta Opt-In.EDIT: Belfaire has issued a correction: "I need to reiterate there that I'm not confirming an August 1st distribution date. I'm confirming that a wave after August 1st will be the one that incorporates the remaining BlizzCon, WWI, and Dell Beta Club invites."Tags: belfaire, belfaire-partying, beta, beta-opt-in, beta-test, customer-service-forums, in, northrend, opt, opt-in, xaviel

The individual he was responding to was asking about his Blizzcon beta invite that he had apparently put the code in for and had not yet received his invite. With the vague reply, I think it's hard to tell whether he was talking about just the additional WWI and Blizzcon invites going out then or actual opt-in invites.

Good to see that the opt-ins are going out as well. I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the correction, Adam. I'll keep checking my e-mail!

On a post earlier this week it was mentioned that invites haven't been sent to european players yet. Will this ever happen? If so any idea of when theyll be sent?
con-man Jul 30th 2008 5:41PM
Adam you fail again. Read the thread this time. He is talking about the keys given at blizzcon last year. Not Opt-in invites.
Adam Holisky Jul 30th 2008 5:55PM
Actually I don't, but thanks for bringing this up.
All previous waves have included BlizzCon, WWI, and Opt-In invites.

Teh nerds are so cruel Adam....
"I'll point out a perceived flaw.. even if I am the one who is wrong."
pure genius.
jay Jul 30th 2008 6:22PM
True my brother, BUT, he never mentioned anywhere that there were not going to be any opt-in keys sent out along with the remaining WWI and Blizzcon keys.
con-man Jul 30th 2008 8:08PM
yeah but if you read the article before Adam edited it without putting an edit note, it didn't say "All previous waves of invites have included both BlizzCon, WWI, and Opt-In people." He put that in after my comment was posted.

I have this weird conflict where I don't wanna get in 'cos I don't wanna ruin the experience, yet at the same time I keep wanting to see an invite in my inbox.
Naix Jul 30th 2008 5:50PM
Your not "ruining" your experience. In fact your going to be better prepared when the expansion does come out. The content will change a lot from beta to full. So your just previewing what the expansion and not finishing everything the game has to offer before it comes out.
Braundo Jul 30th 2008 6:00PM
@Naix: Agreed. I've beta-tested various games in the past and they've all ended up fairly different in the finished product, to the point where I didn't feel like I had "spoiled" anything by playing it early.
SpaceDog Jul 30th 2008 6:14PM
For you, maybe, but that's not how it would be for me. The basic experience will be the same, and I really enjoy the leveling experience in new areas. I already have three characters to take through so... :)
But yeah, I would surely take a sneak peak at some aspects.
(Not that it's gonna happen anyway)

Quoted from one of Belfaire's posts:
"Because I'd be lying if I said it was tomorrow, hombre! It is not. It's safe to assume, given the Blizzcon beta key cutoff date of August 1, though, that it'll be after August 1st. "
Meh, I'm guessing beta opt ins after Aug 1st, remaining WWI and Blizzcon keys on Aug 1st, I'm betting some posts that I read earlier were thinking that August 1st was a little further away than this friday (I did for a second there:P)
vampyl Jul 30th 2008 6:40PM
this wave should finish out the wwii, dell laptop, and other gaurenteed entries and so opt-ins will be a larger part of the group this time
Spearhawk Jul 30th 2008 8:08PM
I find it amazing that Blizzard would announce they are bringing in MORE people to the Beta.
I for one have been testing it for about a week(WWI key holder) and there is not a single day that does not go by without them having MAJOR issues with the login server that causes a lot of taime to wait to get to "Disconnected from server"
add to that the already heavy stressed servers at Northrend that causes either extreme lag and then world server down or just...world server down...this is an event that happens every 20-30 minutes or so.
why not fix those problems before they start inviting more ppl and put even worse stress on the servers?
