New stable slots in Wrath? Updated
One of the biggest challenges that hunters face is the issue of only having three available stable slots. With all of the diverse pet choices, and Fluffy the pink Barrens raptor hogging all that space, most hunters would agree that another stable slot or seven would be handy. In fact, with all of the upcoming tameable Wrath pets, not to mention exotics, the stable situation is looking pretty painful. In a recent forum thread, Ghostcrawler hints that Wrath might bring additional slots, going against what Blizzard has said in the past.
As a response to posters asking for an expanded stable, the CM responds with "okay."
I can't express how excited I am about the possibility of one or more stable slots. Could this tie into the Achievement system? Will I be allowed to collect and house pets? Will we see a special "exotic" slot or slots? What do you think?
Update: Ghostcrawler has confirmed that we will indeed be getting two new stable slots. In fact, Ghost points out that further testing may lead to the stables being integrated into the UI the way non-combat pets and mounts will be. In other words, summoning all pets would become spells, allowing the hunter to call whichever pet he or she wishes, without visiting a stable.

I don't play a hunter (mine was shelved at 60), but if I did I would want more pets.
As an outsider looking in, I really don't see the problem with it...who cares? Give them more pets already. Then, they can go back to crying over their lower representation in Arenas and not being able to stand in one spot press buttons and auto kill things.

You’re just jealous because you have to click more keys than we do. :0)

Because Arena rankings are a value of one's worth as a human being.

It's been updated since, saying that there will be 2 new slots.
Woot!

Why would it have anything to do with achievements? If only a hunter can get it?

He didn't say there will be two new slots. He says, in reply to complaints about the limited pet options, that "there are two additional pet slots in the stable", which is the current status quo. Maybe he thought the hunters posting had no idea there was a stable master..

It could be achievements that only a hunter could accomplish. After taming 15 pets, maybe this would be unlocked.
However, they've made a point of saying that achievements will only grant you things like tabards and titles, and not anything that will add an advantage. So I think linking it to achievements is inaccurate.
Now Inscription, that's another matter. We've seen a lot of neat things for Druids from Inscription so far.

Well, i mean why would there be Class only Achievements? they seem a little wrong to me... surely achievements should be solely based on everyone being able to achieve them?

Actually he even said that there'll be 2 additional slots in the stable, in the second page of the post.
Good news for the hunters :)

WTF does that mean? "LOL Pokemon?"

I'm not sure if he's confirming anything, it could be that I'm tired, but it sounds like he's just stating the obvious - there is 2 other slots for hunters already ingame.
Maybe I'm too tired to believe it. Maybe I don't wanna believe it. Nerf hunters, 'nuff said.

gotta catch em all yo

I still remember when I bought my first stable slot...
I was a noob... rogue. Thought I'd figure out what to put in there sooner or later.
Ametrine Jul 31st 2008 8:52AM
I bought mine at lvl 15, on a warrior, my first trip to the barrens. Thought it was a place to put my mount I'd eventually get (since it WAS a "stable") and thought myself amazingly clever for getting one so early.
Culhag Jul 31st 2008 8:52AM
I didn't even know you can buy stable slots as a non hunter.
I guess they should disable that ; gold is precious for a newbie :-)

I never knew non-hunters could buy stable slots, I've never tried. That's retarded.

lvl 14 druid same thing. I thought "One day I'll house a mount in there cause horses go in stables".
Little did I know cats, wolves, crabs, snakes, scoripions, birds. . .all of those are kept in stables and horses are kept in backpacks
(cages? avieary? aquarium? vet? animal shelter?) f'n stables for pets. . . . go play DnD and put your familiar in a stable and keep your horse in a bag next to your bed in the inn.
by the way more slots always rocks!!!! One for my raptor, my dragonhawk, my old school white windserpent, my devilsaur, hell a bald eagle!
Lol, pokemon = 'gotta catch em all'

tbh its understandable that u bought stable slots - in the real world they were used for mounts normally after all. I thought 2 stable slots - for my normal and epic mounts - seemed reasonable. Thank god i decided to wait til i had em to fill the slots otherwise i may well have wasted money too
Sinthar Jul 31st 2008 8:52AM
oh and the 2 new stable slots - thats a BIG yahooo for all you hunters out there, thank god they have finally agreed to it - its been TOO long in coming imo - and i dont play a hunter!
