Around Azeroth: A death knight is never alone
The good thing about being a pet class is that you always have a friend. Hunters have bears, wolves and cats. Warlocks have stolid voidwalkers, capricious imps or sexy succubi. And death knights have ... this ... this thing. Um. Is it too late to take it back to the SPCA and exchange it for a kitten?
Reader Exanimo of Aszune-EU, who also writes Full Time WoW Addict, sent us this image straight from the Wrath of the Lich King beta -- and we'd love to have your beta screenshots, too! If you have anything our readers might like, sharing it is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. We prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. And, please, no more sunsets! Unless it's a sunset over Arthas's grave.

Why are 4/5 shots from the beta these days? :(
mora Aug 1st 2008 10:48AM
so these will work like hunter and lock pets where they can be out the whole time or is there a time limit on them
jbodar Aug 1st 2008 3:20PM
I'm gonna go with - "people want to see screenshots of the beta, because they are not in the beta, and therefore cannot otherwise see these things."

Mine is called Frederick, and he disapproves of 'thing'. He prefers 'physically-impaired being'.

Just found this article:
http://blizzplanet.com/news/2597/
Great overview of the first section of the starting DK zone!
draiken Aug 1st 2008 11:01AM
PS: it is on Blizzplanet's website - not a keylogger or anything. With all the crap out there now, I thought it would be worth another post.
Sorry for the spam!

Hey, don't knock them just because they aren't pretty. They're there to provide support to you while you unleash your death knight badness and will probably die for it's effort.
More love to the ghouls, man!

This shot is a perfect example of why I hate Human Males in WoW. It has nothing to do with the players or the alliance, just their appearance in the game.
This is a DEATH KNIGHT, WoW's first Hero class! His dull and uninteresting form stands before you like a cheap doll or action figure!
/sigh
Nothing about the human males in WoW suggests power or impressiveness.

You should see me with my dress off.

Perfect summary.

Don't forget about the mage's water elemental! Granted, he's only my friend for 1 minute out of every 3, but hey... better than no friend, right??
RogueJedi86 Aug 1st 2008 1:29PM
And also the Shaman Earth Elemental, and Shadowpriest's Shadowfiend. Hell, include the Moonkin's Treants while you're at it. :)

I thought that was why they invented mini-pets. So, all the classes could pretend to be hunters. :-)

The problem with rising ghouls is that you can control them as a pet unless you drop 26 points into Unholy talents. At 26 you get the talent Master of Ghoul. "Ghouls summoned by your Raise Dead spell are considered pets and are under your control." Basically this means if you are unable to spend 26 points in Unholy you won't be using this spell often because Ghouls aggro EVERYTHING... including elites. A big no-no for survivability.
Ryan Aug 1st 2008 4:07PM
er... the problem is that you can't. sorry for the typo.
jbodar Aug 1st 2008 4:40PM
Isn't there a skill to "detonate" -- for lack of better term -- Ghouls or is that an Unholy talent as well? If so, you can summon, then sac them before they get out of control.
Ryan Aug 1st 2008 5:43PM
To be honest I don't know.
jbodar Aug 1st 2008 8:57PM
Oh hey, there is:

Sweet.
Ryan Aug 1st 2008 10:01PM
That's cool, except that's not the same as blowing them up. Again, I don't know if Death Knights have that ability. I haven't gotten far enough into beta to know.
jbodar Aug 1st 2008 11:41PM
Wha? That's definitely as good as blowing them up! Sac one of those uncontrollable minions to get 20% of your total health? Yes please. According to Wowhead, all DKs learn this @ 66. I just knew it was some ability to sac your poor expendable ghouls.
