New hairstyles in Wrath of the Lich King revealed
Yes, you can have a Night Elf mohawk. That's the biggest thing you should take away from the new files uncovered by Andrige, a WoW fan artist. They show some of the new hairstyle options for various races showing up soon in a Barber Shop near you. He sent the files off to our own Big Bear Butt Blogger and to Phaelia of Resto4life. The Male hairstyles can be found at Big Bear Butt, while the female hairstyles can be found at Resto4Life.
Right now, it looks like they've mostly swapped hairstyles between races -- male Gnomes have the Forsaken male hairstyles for example, while Night Elves seem to have taken a page from the Blood Elf book. Still, there are a few seemingly new unique hairstyles, such as the aforementioned Night Elf mohawk and new horn types for Tauren.
of course, most of these new hairstyles aren't even immediately usable in the Beta barbershop yet, either, but it's likely that we'll see them in a future build. Also, I would imagine that we will see more hairstyles (hopefully more new and unique ones, specifically) coming as the Beta continues, but it's nice to get a sneak peak at what we have so far.
Again, you can see the female hairstyles at Resto4Life, and the male hairstyles at Big Bear Butt. Be sure to check out our barbershop gallery as well if you haven't yet.

Aww man I Can only imagine all the Night Elf Warriors with Mohawks named in some variation of Mr.T.

The canned beta Blood elf long hair went to the human female it seems?...

Can we make a night elf male that looks anything less than 450 years old yet, or are we still restricted to men that look like George Burns' face with Jack Pallance's freakish muscular body?
I do like the blood elf women's new double-ponytail gnome look.

Lame and lamer. Maybe next we will have "new" classes where Taurens can become rogues.

I'm so giving my Undead Male a Hightop fade.

Can we please host the pictures somewhere else? I'm not able to get to either of these fansites to see the new hairstyles. Might be wise to post both male and female pics at a reliable site, and not at these sites that junk out when 100 simultaneous people are viewing them. k, thx.

Am not impressed. They are old haircuts from different races just moved about. I wanted completly new ones!

some are new mate. Taurens, some gnomes'. Some undead, there's new ones to every race, but mostly they are switched around.
Atrocita Aug 1st 2008 3:04PM
Me either. None of these look new or fresh, and most of them look like something the design team from 3 years ago would have made. No polish, and overall ugly, cartoonish hairstyles. I am disappointed!

Personally I am pretty dissapointed in what I saw for the tauren females. All we get is new horn styles? What I saw didn;t look new at all. Talk about getting burned.

My thoughts exactly. I've got a really crappy hairstyle on my character, I want to get rid of it, not just be able to chance my horns(which I happen to like my current horns by the way).
Dightkuz Aug 1st 2008 7:07PM
Indeed, my main is tauren female and comparing them with the ones of the male taurens really makes me hate myself for not rolling male instead. I mean, It REALLY pisses me ofdjafudngAHR! :(

Also feeling a HUGE disapointed for tauren female.
Here I was, hoping to be able to remove horns alltogether (I am female after all, not a bull) and have some nice new styles that don't make my cow so frumpy...
I am a sad cow. Really, I have no other words, saddened sums it up pretty well. T_T

I seriously doubt this is the final product, it's not like Blizzard to just swap some existing features around and call it new. I mean, Human males get Belf male hair, Belf males get Nelf male hair, both Orcs and Gnomes get Undead male hair, it looks more like someone messed around with the files in order to move hair from different races onto other races.

Hold on! On Big Bear Butt the following was poster above the images:
These images were created and submitted by community figure Andrige, best known for his modified shapeshift skins and a host of other Druid-related art projects.
Doesn't that mean that the pics are fake and WoWinsider is misinforming us by telling us they're real?
Tsk tsk tsk

it's not like blizzard? what about all the armor sets that are just recolored versions of other armor sets?
skreeran Aug 1st 2008 3:06PM
You mean the PvP sets? Or the dungeon set? They already said that from now one, the PvP sets will be different in appearance form the PvE sets, and the Dungeon sets are reskinned from T1-2 sets that are never seen anymore.
STereo Aug 2nd 2008 11:14PM
It is exactly like Blizzard to do that.
Chuddy Aug 1st 2008 2:12PM
Oh no they didn't just reuse all those haircuts. Ouch. Man. C'mon I know blizzard can do better than that. Just steal some animators from City of Heroes or something! haha.
