WoW Moviewatch: Baron Soosdon and Pinkhair win Synergy contest by a landslide
Baron Soosdon and Pinkhair's machinima followed along with the Busted script, but there were multiple little touches that really made the film. In addition to weaving his 3d magic throughout, Pinkhair also used a third party program, Crazytalk, to animate the lips of one of the characters. Caruu mastered the sound, while he, Drewbie, Olibith, and Selserene voice acted. There are also tributes to the great Shepiwot, Drewbie's character from The Grind, the Robber Baron of Warsong Gulch, and the cast of Snacky's Journal. Even I played a part in it by ruining their PR campaign -- or so they say!
Try to keep in mind that neither script was good, so the contenders didn't have a lot to work with in the way of variation. Now that it's over, I hope that Warcraftmovies will use a different method for their contest next time!

Three votes is a landslide?
Tatiyanna Aug 1st 2008 12:35PM
I was going to say the same thing, A battle to the death and winning by a landslide is Not the same thing.
A landslide would have been 299 to 20
I would say They won it by a hair.....

They were the underdogs. They were up against the creator of Tales of the Past 3. They lost approximately 10% of their votes to Martin Falch throughout the contest.

Your sarcasm detector is clearly faulty. Please try new batteries before returning to manufacturer.

Thats what I get for trying Gnome's Acme product line....

sorry if im just bad to sence sarcasm :)
but its Soosdon, Pinkhair, Drewbie and Obilith.
Calling them underdogs is silly. I know Falch created one of the biggest WoW movies to date, but when he is up against those four, he would be the underdog

Well, Baron Soosdon and Pinkhair were the two machinimators who made it. The rest are just their all-star cast. However, it's tough to compete with the rabid fanboys that Falch has. Falch had like 40% to their 51% in the beginning of the contest, but he gained while they dropped.

Gez moo, you just had to ruin our PR campaign...
Shinkou Aug 1st 2008 12:24PM
By far the best film Baron Soosdon has worked on yet. Not to trash talk some of his previous works but this one, to me atleast, has more value than his other videos that are usually just about music and effects.
Keep up with the colaborations, your style just needed some direction to fully shine and this here just shows it. Hopefully you all will do another film together again! 5 stars across the board.

Time for The Return Of Illegal Danish or something... They were the greatest...
TotalBiscuit Aug 1st 2008 2:00PM
They were while they still had the guy that wrote their story. You need only look at the mess that was IDEFO to see the lack of direction there.

My deepest sympathy for them and that horrid piece of trash they called a script. I want the last 9 minutes of my life back.
Kudos to an awesome job from a technical stand point however. I personally find the 'So Sick' video of Baron's as his best -- yes, I know its a music video but the imagery was great. If only he had had CrazyTalk for Anemea/Aenema (The black haired Belf)

Allow me to set things straight. It's not much, but I made this little humorous video in commendation to those who really want their time back: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBGIQ7ZuuiU

it looks great, but it is boring as hell. not soosdon's fault, due to the fixed script, but i couldn't get more than 1.45 into it... gnomechewer had the right idea with his version.
BaronSoosdon Aug 1st 2008 3:47PM
We should have asked Gnomechewer to join us. I mean it, really.

Very Awesome! Really loved it. And that music... Alot of it felt so familiar... Kept thinking Kingdom Hearts until the credits music started playing. Voices of the Lifestream off of Overclocked Remix =P, good choice there, some of my favorite music on my PC.
Jay Aug 1st 2008 1:09PM
I personally think Martin Falch should have won, his was way better.
Jay Aug 1st 2008 1:10PM
Don't get me wrong though, Baron Soosdon and Pinkhair did an incredible job with such a crappy script.
TotalBiscuit Aug 1st 2008 1:39PM
Thanks for that useful, subjective opinion.
Kronq Aug 2nd 2008 1:45AM
I agree with Jay.
Opinions are subjective.
Did that add anything?
