I know. I'm not in
Beta, and yet I'm as giddy as a greedy little boy who just got hold of a cookie jar with every bit of
Wrath of the Lich King information. We've seen the breathtaking
Howling Fjord, bits of the
Borean Tundra, and even glimpses into the lush forests of
Sholazar Basin. I don't think I could be excited enough for
Lake Wintergrasp, even though there's just so little information about it. Elizabeth Harper, who's playing around in the Beta, has said that
Dragonblight is her favorite zone.
From what we've seen so far, it really looks like
Wrath of the Lich King is going to be one hell of a game. Each of the zones -- as has been the trend throughout
World of Warcraft -- has its own personality. Blizzard has said that it won't all be ice and snow, and the diversity that's been revealed up to this point seems to attest to that. What zone are you most excited to see and most eager to explore when you get to Northrend?

this poll needs an "all of them" option
Fauche Aug 2nd 2008 8:21AM
Seriously. They look amazing in their own way.

I'm excited about everything BUT Wintergrasp - PVP is kind of just a waste of time and space for me, so aside from a visit to see what it looks like, I won't be there.

i've heard from friends in the beta that sholazar basin is particularly gorgeous, so that's my pick.
really, though? i want to see whatever has raid instances in it.

I absolutely loved the gorgeous and lush staircases of Zul'Drak. The trolls really know how to build stairs.
Jamie Aug 2nd 2008 9:17AM
Totally, Zul'Drak is utterly gorgeous, possibly the most striking zone in the whole game.

Ive had the luck of visiting all of the mentioned zones myself excet Icecrown and the one I really liked the most was Zul Drak. There's so much to see in there and by going in there you know and witness all the hard work the blizzard artists have put into making this yet another beautiful expansion! There's other areas too that I really like but the one I disliked the most was SHolazar Basin. Some people are excited about it but for me it looked like a ungoro crater meets strangtlethorn vale. Im going to have nightmares while levelling there just thinking that itll be like STV. And dragonblight, was vote one of the places people wanted to visit the most but its really not that interesting. IT has the Dragon temple in the midle, a few uninteresting places around it and then the dragon shrine. Theres a lot of open space and the area looks a bit bland :\ Just sharing my opinion :)

Y so... SRS?

'Joker' jokes are getting old. We get it, you saw the movie, he was great, stop whoring his one liners out.
Wintergrasp is going to be 'zone of choice', camping it with my rogue will bring some fun times :)

I have to admit, i haven't seen much of the new zones, i've been more interested in class changes and talents. However i think Howling Fjord is looking pretty interesting. The Dragonblight also looks good.

I'm staying in Outlands! lol :P

Where's the Crystalsong Forest option? I know it's a subzone of the Storm Peaks... but it's still big enough and unique enough to warrant it's own option... please?
RogueJedi86 Aug 2nd 2008 3:06PM
Judging by the fact that Crystalsong Forest has its own zone map now, I'd say it is a fully-fledged zone on its own right.

Which is all the more reason for it to be included as poll option. Having the 5th and final Emerald Dream Portal makes it pretty important in my book. Too bad the bloggers either don't read the comments of their posts, or simply don't have the ability to edit posts.

I'm actually most interested in SW harbor, for some reason. Just looks so alive and active.
Nick Aug 2nd 2008 1:28PM
I'm on Icecrown realm, so naturally I want to see Icecrown

"Blizzard has said that it won't all be ice and snow"
I got a little sad when they said that. Icy snowy zones are my favorite =(
I chose Storm Peaks, just because it looks like it'll be the whitest of all the zones from the map.
DirtyPriest Aug 2nd 2008 6:25PM
Most of the zones fit the theme of coldness. Yes, even a cold area can have green. But Sholazar Basin is reeeeaaalllly stretching it lore wise.
Anyway, I would have picked Icecrown, but that's an obvious favorite. So I picked storm peaks mostly cause it sounds interesting. The lower level zones are just more "blah blah yet another forest, welcome!"
RogueJedi86 Aug 2nd 2008 7:35PM
Sholazar is allowable, since it's like Un'Goro, specifically stated to be an artificial creation by the Titans. With their power, they could probably set up anti-cold/snow barriers around the Basin, and magnify the sunlight to make it warmer.
But yeah, making Howling Fjord and Borean Tundra and Grizzly Hills(and possibly Zul'Drak) mostly warm zones bugs me too. Winterspring is only a little south of Northrend, and it's pure snow. Then you look at Borean Tundra(maybe a few miles north at the minimum in-game), and it looks positively warm, like Stonetalon.
I voted Storm Peaks, since someone forgot to add Crystalsong Forest as an option, and Crystalsong could almost be considered part of Storm Peaks(it was going to be up until recently).
