Ask a Beta Tester: The Argent Crusade

Gurluas asks...
How many high elves are there in Wrath, and what are their role now that they have thier own faction?
The High Elves actually have a pretty strong presence, which I'm rather excited about. The High Elves (and Blood Elves to a much lesser extent) are one of my favorite Warcraft races, and it makes me sad I can't play one. Alliance FTW. Dalaran, first of all, is packed full of them. Most of them are under the banner of the Silver Covenant, an Alliance-aligned faction of High Elves that aren't too happy about the Blood Elves being given a sizable section of Dalaran.
There are also High Elves scattered throughout the Alliance forces in Northrend. There are a few of them in the 7th Legion (no, they're not all High Elves), the Argent Crusade, and just the Alliance forces overall. The fellow in charge of the Alliance contingent helping the Red Dragonflight at the Red Dragonshrine is a High Elf. He's a total badass, by the way. Check him out up there. Ashkandi is Draconic for Awesome.
Jariaji asks...
Does the Cenarion Circle have any role to play in Wotlk, either as the Cenarion Circle or as a sort of offshoot faction like the Cenarion Expedition? I would of thought lorewise they would have an interest in the reaction the creatures and vegetation have had to the Lich Kings corruption in Northrend.
Well, there are a few zones that aren't implemented yet, so it's possible we'll get a more 'serious' incarnation of them than we have now. Right now we have D.E.H.T.A. A parody of PETA that is out to kill Nesingwary for his wanton slaughter of wildlife. They're... pretty much a joke, and if that's the only Cenarion Circle representation we get you're in for disappointment, and so am I. Sorry.
Vjax asks...
Can you still do level 70 dailies for gold, and do you get XP for doing them?
You can do those quests, yes. However, since you're not at the level cap they don't give nearly as much gold. Most of it is converted into experience. You get much, much more XP in Northrend. Don't bother with Quel'Danas unless you really like the atmosphere.
The final question is full of plot spoilers, so stop if you're trying very hard to avoid them for some reason!
Reinard asks...

Faction question, and to a lord nerd (sup Alex), probably an interesting one. The Knights of the Silver Hand are very likely to be a new faction, and I'm very curious as to whether they'll be Alliance-only or neutral? I know, considering factions aren't really implemented yet, this'll probably be difficult to answer, but...I must know! If they're not neutral, my blood elf will be a very, very sad paladin :(
Sup Reinard. At the end of the Death Knight questline, Tirion Fordring shows up and kicks a bunch of Scourge tail. Afterwards, he declares that the remnants of the Silver Hand that he's gathered up and the Argent Dawn are going to become one uberfaction for the war against the Lich King: The Argent Crusade. The Argent Dawn's neutrality remains, so members of the Horde have joined this faction, though they're not all Paladins. The Hand icon of the Silver Hand has been combined with the Argent Dawn's sunburst to make the awesome banner you see on the right.

What are the exact origins of the myriad races, if any are revealed. I know that Vrykul somehow become Azotha which become humans, but how, exactly? Also, what about Gnomes and Trolls? Do those mech-gnomes have anything to do with this? What about iron dwarfs?
skreeran Aug 3rd 2008 12:45PM
It's been hypothesized that Gnomes are decended from Giants, as the both have only 4 fingers, and the same proportions of head, arm, etc. It also seems that the Vrykul are decended from a titanic race (like the Earthen), because there is a faction of female dwarves, gnomes and humans who can all assume a stone or metal form.

I could probably research this, but I don't know if I will find the correct info. But, what is/are the Azotha?
Mattarias Aug 3rd 2008 4:30PM
The Azotha are the humans of Azeroth.
Tharko Aug 3rd 2008 11:32AM
I know we are supposed to come into more contact with Arthas in this expansion. How often have you seen him so far and what role will he play in the casual's experience?
Athura Aug 3rd 2008 11:44AM
Can we encounter Alextrasza (aspect of the red dragonflight) somewere? Not to fight ofcourse but more as the Lichking that we will see her sometimes.
Tenchan Aug 3rd 2008 12:15PM
Indeed. Alextrasza herself, in the form of a high elf stands atop Wyrmrest Temple, leading the fight against Malygos, and handing you quests on the way.

When the Death Knights join the Horde and Alliance forces, what is their starting reputation in those cities? Do they start at neutral like the Blood Elves/Forsaken with the rest of the Horde?
Are the grey pre-L55 quests still available to grind rep with the different races or for that occasional handy to have trinket (e.g. Carrot-on-a-Stick)?
Tenchan Aug 3rd 2008 12:19PM
A quick look at my own DK shows that I am currently friendly with all Horde factions but Undercity and Silvermoon. As my DK is a troll, I am assuming from this that starter reputation is treated as if you were a 'normal' member of your race.
jurandr Aug 3rd 2008 12:21PM
I've seen this question before. DK's start at friendly with their faction's cities. As for quests.. you can always go back and do them, even now :P There's no reason to block them off.
Daemon Gildas Aug 3rd 2008 3:09PM
One thing I'm extremely curious is how crowded the Death Knight's "Spell Book" is. Honestly, the most daunting part of trying out a class at a higher level is the simply fact that there's such a huge selection of skills, many of which are subpar-to-useless for the casual PvE'er. So, how large does the DK's initial Spell Book begin? Also, when you buy additional Ranks, does it replace the old version as an upgrade, or do you keep all ranks as separate spells?
Balgair Aug 3rd 2008 2:16PM
How much difference is there between Horde and Alliance quests (if anybody's levelled characters on both sides yet)?
I was a bit disappoiinted to discover around 90% of Outland quests are effectively identical on both sides (Terokkar and SMV are 99% identical, only difference in Nagrand is the Garrosh storyline for Horde, etc), so as an altaholic with several characters on both factions I'm wondering if it'll be much the same this time or if there'll be more variety?
Great feature btw; I'm loving reading these articles as they usually cover questions that I've not seen answered elsewhere. Thanks! :)

My dwarf pally is screaming for a The Argent Crusade tabard. I need it now.
erin Aug 3rd 2008 2:35PM
Is the new Caverns Of Time - "Old Stratholme" instance implemented yet ?
Reinard Aug 3rd 2008 2:47PM
Ohmanohmanohmanohman. Awesome :) Thanks for answering. That's a tabard I'll definitely wear, and I'm very picky when it come to tabards XD
Zedius Aug 3rd 2008 3:09PM
My question is:
As far as I've heard, Bolvar is in Northrend outside the gates to Icecrown... So, who has replaced him in Stormwind?
If he has not been replaced yet, then my question is:
I've heard Blizzard is experimenting with the "armies clashing together" concept (Deathknight quests come to mind...). Does this show anywhere else?
Also... What is the location with the most "HOLY MARY, MOTHER OF GOD"-feeling at the moment? Utgarde? Aggrathar the wrathgate?
Last one:
Tell me more about the "living world" you described earlier! I mean the hatching drakes, hunting wolves, angry shoveltusk-males... More examples please!
Wow... That's alot... I bet you won't answer all of them, but try... /beg
Rhornez Aug 3rd 2008 3:50PM
Is titans grip worth it or is it just a slower version of one hand dual wielding?
brucimus Aug 3rd 2008 4:27PM
If TG is any good or not ...who knows Why wouldn't you want to try it for yourself?
And if "Alex the Warrior Master" replies and says that TG is teh Suxor...are you goin to take his word for it? or are you going to try it for yourself? OMG are you a Warrior or a Sheep? bah

I'm currently running WoW at 512mb of RAM with a decent video card, I'm content with how the game is running now but I'm concerned with how my system will hold up in WotLK. How much more graphically complex is the expansion than Classic WoW or TBC?
Hank Aug 3rd 2008 6:20PM
Even if not required, I would upgrade to at least 1GB of ram; I wouldn't use a system without that. If you can afford it, I'd suggest maximizing your ram. This will do a lot more for your game experience than replacing your video card.
