Breakfast Topic: How do you feel about Wrath so far?
A lot of changes have gone into Wrath of the Lich King since we last asked this question, so what do you think of Wrath thus far? Has some of your pessimism melted away? Has your optimism melted away? Just plain don't care until you have the finished product in your hands?Personally, I'm mostly optimistic. Being in the beta is very exciting, and let me tell ya, the zones and quests are blowing my mind. Unfortunately, my preferred class/spec is not turning out to be as grand as the changes originally made it sound. Heck, they changed their mind about giving Mind Flay a 30 yard range. The short range on that thing still doesn't make sense to, oh... anybody in the entire freaking world. That's alright though, I'm still having a ton of fun with my Shadow Priest and they're not done with class changes quite yet, nowhere close. I remain optimistic.
Honestly, with eye candy like this, I'm not sure how you can be completely down in the dumps about the upcoming expansion. There's way too many new things and far too much exciting content to throw a tantrum over pitfalls of my class right now. Maybe I'll do that later, but for now I'm pretty darn happy.

I honestly can say I do not really care about what the classes are getting, balance and all that crap. I'm just hopeful I can return to a world that is similar in atmosphere to the original game. I don't like laserbeams, flying goats and so forth. I want back to the adventure I felt/had when I was leveling up in Azeroth.

Kudos to you, Sir. I'm tired of playing World of Starcraft in Outland.
Mixx Aug 3rd 2008 8:13AM
I agree but for different reasons. I didn't mind Outland as much as some. I don't care what they change. I just don't really spend anytime researching Wrath, didn't bother with Outland either. When it comes out I'll play it - I'll either enjoy it or not. If so, great! If not, lot's of other entertainment out there. All this speculation, beta info, theorycrafting etc. just seems like way way too much effort to put into a game.
Cheers!

I play a rogue, and it seems that they are going to be the last class to be worked on. Talents look good for now, still a ton of issues that need to be dealt with.

I'm playing a retribution paladin, marksman hunter, and a disc/holy priest atm. And I'm planning to make the priest shadow in wotlk (Because I simply don't feel I'm good enough at healing.. Pew pew :-( ) Anyway, the hunter have always been my main, and I've always enjoyed playing on him, untill I started to do some real arenas, I found out, hunter's isn't really that great a class for arena, and especialy not mm, I know people says "Spec BM noob" But I find myself enjoying mm more, and isn't that what the whole game is about, to enjoy it? So when I first heard of huters getting vanish, I was very pleased, I could see it making hunters able to do arena, but when I saw it beeing removed, I gotta admit I let go of a small tear.. So now I'mt rying to focus more on my re-adin, and what I've seen so far, I'm very pleased :-) I can't wait to start leveling my paladin in Northren.

Funny, very funny. Well say goodbye to that webforward. Seriously? You didn't think I'd notice when an old address picked up a heap of traffic?

Wrath gives me orgasms.

Find it odd that so much stead is put on what they are doing in beta - from Alpha to beta there have been some massive changes - will wait till I see the finish product before I decide if is worth while - like BC and many of the patches what we see on the PTR's is not often what we get in the end. also trying to avoid much of the detail about the expansion, what's the point of seeing a movie if you've already ready the script backwards, I want to let as much as possible unfold - getting hgarder as that all the wow sites want to write about, you'd think the current game has finished - still lots for many of us to do

wotlk is funeh

I'm pretty excited, at the very least because my main class (mage) has nowhere to go but up.
But, class rebalancing notwithstanding, I expect WotLK to be as much of a leap forward, in terms of gameplay quality and polish, as BC was. Individual changes may raise an eyebrow from time to time, but overall I'm fairly confident Bliz knows what they're doing. It's a widely accepted fact -- not fanboi hyperbole -- that Blizzard has never released a bad expansion for any of their games. There's always a first time, but I'm allowing myself to get excited about this one.

My favorite part as a holy healer is new gear.

The game mechanic changes seem pretty meh to me (but I primarily play a rogue, so I haven't been given much to entice me), and I don't really care all that much about enscription for the same reason (all I can really picture for us is more damage, less energy, and possibly some sort of on-hit stunning...nothing "fun" like different colored spells or new forms for polymorph and druids). I'm vaguely inspired to start doing things liable to get me achievements in the expansion now, and it may inspire my actions when I get bored, but achievements have never really worked as an incentive to get me excited about a game in the first place.
That said, the more prevalent smaller-raid content is exciting to me, as someone who doesn't really enjoy the formality (or the chaos in its absence) that comes from too many people in a raid. The refocus on the more primitive and magical setting is nice, and the viking inspired bits are interesting to me, visually and for the lore. I look forward to having new places to explore, new quests to do, and new lore to read.
The way I'm looking at it right now, it's just the same WoW with new content, and that's enough for me.

still waiting for info on engineering

nothing has impressed me so far.
Achievements seem like a huge waste of resources, the Calendar seems to open to thye public to be truly useful, the vehicles for PvP make me wonder if Battlefield did it better, why do it at all in WoW and there hasnt been a single class change yet that makes me think," Well that is certainly needed."
All that being said, I was never going to play WoW in the first place. I wasn't impressed by the prereleae screenshots or description of features at all. But after checking out Open Beta back in the day, I was hooked. Three years later, I am still hooked.
So my hope is that once I am playing the expansion, I will be impressed all over again.
