Certain old keys, pets, and tabards to be retrievable in Wrath
One of the nice things about Wrath is the consolidation of bag space. With mounts and pets becoming skills instead of items, it'll free up a lot of bag space for us pack rats. Unfortunately, for now, we still need that bag space, and to get enough of it, some of us have been forced to delete pets, tabards, and keys that we've otherwise outgrown.
But if you're lamenting the loss of your Miniwing, or if you're having second thoughts about deleting that Battle Tabard of the Defilers, take heart. Tigole's announced that Wrath of the Lich King will include a way to recover deleted unique tabards, keys, and vanity pets. For keys, you'll talk to a locksmith, for pets, a stable master, and for tabards, a tabard vendor (likely the ones in the capital town halls).
This only works on unique, one-per-character items, of course, so if you deleted a rare drop, you'll still have to go farm it again. It also doesn't appear to be currently implemented on Beta, but hopefully it is soon so we can test it and make sure all the right unique stuff can be recovered again -- I'm hoping they include non-key keys like the Scepter of Celebras.
In the meantime, it's nice to see that Blizzard's continuing to allow us just a little bit more leeway in character customization and giving us pack rats more options to keep the stuff we love. Next stop: Player housing with item display cases! Hey, I can dream.

Now all I want is a way to get back the stuff I've deleted so I didn't have to delete my vanity pets and tabards. ;)

I have seen Tabards mentioned in a lot of posts about space management but have not seen an official solution for them. We have a new Pet and Mount tab. Blizzard has talked about some sort of "outfit management" system. But never for Tabards? There are many Exalted Tabards I would have bought and worn if I just had the room. What we need is a Tabard Closet, like a key ring, that can hold an infinite number of them. With the increased importance of them in Lich Ling (a la "Championing) there has to be a solution. Has anyone seen any evidence of one?

I've been wondering the same thing for quite awhile, but I guess BC exalted tabards are cheap enough to just re-buy...

Okay, this is one announcement, aside from the hunter stuff, that makes me want to read about Wrath. I'm still poking around all the pre-BC and BC stuff so I've been tuning out Wrath articles. I haven't purchased all the tabards I'm eligible to get because I didn't have space for them. New hair styles, new dances (Is this coming true? I haven't heard), new pet slots, new ways of keeping my stable of vanity pets, now this, maybe I will get excited about this expansion.

That sounds cool. I'm surprised that they have logs of old keys, seeing as people only deleted them for bagspace before the introduction of the keyring. (Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm sure there's an exception.) So is this saying if I delete my illegitimately obtained Mojo, I'll get it back? Or are they keeping logs on that too...
kabshiel Aug 4th 2008 9:18PM
They're not keeping logs on anything, as far as I can tell. They're only giving you stuff back that you can't otherwise reobtain (ie quest rewards). So expect to be able to get back your Shadowforge Key, but not your Scarlet Monastery key. Your Mojo isn't coming back, sorry.

It is implemented; at least, it is for non-combat pets. I retrieved a Miniwing from a stable master without even realising I could or what it was about. And this was on the beta a week or two ago.

C'mon hammer of Zul'Farrak!
I always hate doing runs for people then realizing that I left my hammer in the bank....

We've had key chains since before The Burning Crusade. Who is deleting keys to make room?
Ametrine Aug 4th 2008 1:50PM
People who played before keychains were invented.
Bunkai Aug 4th 2008 2:43PM
People that have old school PvP Titles... like me... that have been playing since early 2005.
Mark Aug 4th 2008 5:14PM
I'm a day one player, too, with an old-school pvp title. There were only a few quest item keys that needed to be kept, ones like the Scarlet Key were easy enough to replace. Dunno, guess I just never deleted one.

This is a great idea. Why not do the same thing for shaman totems? Thats 4 more spaces in our bags we would all love to have. :)
OnniHopeDream Aug 4th 2008 2:14PM
Hope you can reget the Netherwing Dragon pet, I was too dumb to get it on one of my alts I guess, like i didnt get back to the alt for a while and the mail was gone. So yeah T.T
Hope I can retrieve it :)
jaenicoll Aug 4th 2008 2:15PM
Amen to all those "pseudo keys" like Hammer of Zul'Farrak, Scepter of Celebras and Seal of Ascension being added to a key ring or made into a spell.
Btw, would the Netherwing Trinkets you get at Friendly, Honored and revered that summon a Netherwing Ally be included in the vanity pet scheme?
Cheers

So... they have a log of the tabards and vanity pets that I've deleted, but not a log of all the quests that I've completed? What the hell!?
I'm still waiting for a player journal that tracks all completed quests (best if in textual format) so I can recount the events that have shaped my toon into the hero that he is. It'd be my players biography, of sorts.
Also, I'm still waiting for an in-game feature to capture and store the texts from all the books in game that your character has read. I sometimes get in the mood to just go in to SM Library and read stories... I'd like to be able to sit in the INN and just read back through my Player Journal to review all the things I've done and all the books I've read along the way.
I see it as a two tab interface... one for my characters history and one for books I'd read.
Blizz has always said that they don't track that stuff, and that's why they can't build such a system... BUT... they know that I've deleted my AV Tabard.
Bleh!
Marbles Aug 4th 2008 3:04PM
Have never seen Blizzard say that they do not track quests. A bit silly to say that since something must track which quests you have (or have not) done. Otherwise they'd be offered you repeatedly. They just haven't made the list accessible to players (for whatever reason).
Also, this quest list will be used to decide which tabards/pets you are allowed to restore. ie, if you have completed the Miniwing quest, you can get the Miniwing back. And so on.
And the AV tabard shouldn't be on the list, as it is re-obtainable. Costs 60 AV Marks from their Quartermaster.

My Scholomance Key! What were they ever thinking naming it simply 'Skeleton Key' -.- I went through GM hell trying to get that thing back and now I log into WotLK and see that it's the only key I'm missing for some 'Keymaster' achievement. Thank goodness they're coming up with a change.
Hoggersbud Aug 4th 2008 7:22PM
Good, even necessary idea. I salute Blizzard for their wisdom and am glad this is being done, even if I'm not sure what pets, if any, I might have deleted.
I do expect to go on a buying spree of pets once Wrath is released though.

On my Druid Alt, i did the westfall quest to get the chicken pet...I had tons of small eggs in my bags from questing and accidentally threw my chicken away thinking it was a small egg. So /cheer
