Showing all questgivers on the minimap
Players have been asking for a way to track even their gray quests for a long time (in order to go back and do them for lore or reputation value), and now it looks like Blizzard is finally listening. Tigole says that in the next Wrath beta build, even gray quests will be trackable on the minimap, like normal quests are now. While a few players argued when the minimap first got updated that it would make the game way too easy, I've found (as I've been leveling my alt again lately) that it actually lets you focus on the important part of the game -- the quest text. Not poking around looking for those exclamation points keeps your mind on what's actually going on as you go back to a quest giver, and makes it more fun as you turn in the overdeveloped gizzard or whatever you're giving away.So good news on this one for completists -- if you've been thinking about going back and hunting down all of the old quests, for reputation, for the new achievements, or just for the heck of it, you might as well wait until you can see them on the minimap.

Are all the quests lvls (gray, green, yellow, orange, red) going to be tracked simultaneously or will we be able to filter the available quests? As in, only show gray or orange, etc lvl quests.

Probably, yeah, otherwise you wouldn't be able to see the map in some places.

I hope they do let us filter something or have an option to not track that quest giver... I still see the exclamation point over the NPC that lets you change from Aldor to Scryer all the time in Shatt and I'd like to not be tempted to talk to them every time.
Given the fantastic utility though, I would deal with the "noise" of un-needed mini-map notifications. I'm sure a map mod maker would be able to get rid of them for you anyway.

I hope we can filter quests, because I don't want to have to run through area and see all the damn !, when I am not looking for quests to pick up.
I hope they just implement grey ! in the place of the traditional yellow on the minimap, so you know you can avoid running over to grab it.
I can't see why they would let you see all quests all at once

/salute Blizz on this one. This will be absolutely great for finally getting that elusive Exalted with Darnassus rep.

i hope they will be grey "!" instead of yellow or green maybe since grey is taken by quests you can't get yet (1-2 lvls away).
Silverrealm Aug 6th 2008 2:37PM
Green are for FP's. I hope they are grey...

I wish they would do this immediately...
I am trying to do every non-raid quest...
Casfála Aug 7th 2008 3:34AM
Same. I want to do them all :>. We did a Horde first on Kael yesterday but I didn't get the Sphere :( - I need Maggy's head too =/ - I don't plan on doing all the Raid quests though.
One of my friends has already done all the non-raid quests and she's a Holy Priest. I can imagine her smiting her way through :D. Especially because she never specs Shadow.

It would be nice to see this in before the expansion to help clear out all the old stuff while there is more than enough free time.
They could also just remove rep scaling with level to make farming older reps somewhat easier especially in a higher level environment. It is almost a form of torture when you can get exalted with all the old world city factions on a new character before or near to level 40 by just questing. On the flip side you can only gain them on older characters by turning in mass numbers of low rep AV items or runecloth by the boatload. Many things in the game have been made easier but reputations, especially original ones, still have a time investment that is more of a chore or excessive time sink compared to the rewards.
An additional Netherweave cloth turn in worth more rep for the home cities to go alongside the current repeatable Runecloth one would be nice since it would give more options for how to use the materials.

Isn't rep scaling 100% ancient? I know they took it out when I got my first 70 to 40 and went through Teldrassil-->Darkshore-->Ashenvale gathering lowbie quests for my Frost Saber. Did they put the scaling back in?
On-Topic: SWEET!! This is just something we all need. I'm not sure if I really want any other cross-faction mounts than the ones I've already gotten, but this is just something that should be in the game.

I look forward to this. I wish they had implemented it before now, because when Wrath comes out I'm not going to go looking for old quests, although NOW is a perfect time. I hate doing dailys when I'm Resto, and I only get to raid a couple times a week, and so I am stuck deciding if I want to respec Balance and go make money or.... hmmm... what else is there? Going and doing low level rep quests has been fun but they are annoying to find.
I do think they should stick with the color coordination though.
White: Quests you can get soon.
Red: Impossibly Difficult
Yellow: Just right
Green: Probably don't need a group on this one
Gray: Oh yea, I had to drop that one.
Blue: Groundhog Day.
The GUI should allow you to select or deselect any combination of these too. Don't want to see dailys? Deselect it. Don't want to see gray? Deselect. There is no real reason why that type of specificity can't be instituted.

At last - I've been asking after this for over a year. I'd have especially liked it a few weeks ago when, bored of just doing the dailies all the time, I decided to get exalted with all the Alliance starting factions. I'm not sure what was more difficult - hunting down the questgivers without an exclamation mark over their head, or getting exalted with the Gnomeregan exiles (which takes a loooong time and involves a lot of travelling if you haven't tried to get it!)
Still, this is a very welcome change.

I still think Blizzard needs to update one more thing regarding quests: Make all questgivers soliciting an instance run appear red.
Would help when I ditch a ZF run for the time being but want to go back and get it later instead of picking it up 87 times and abandoning it.

I kind of miss the old days when you actually had to look for things and quest items didn't sparkle from a mile away. The achievement system is totally pointless too. I guess I shouldn't complain, since they are fixing pets and implementing other cool ideas.
