The end of Naxxramas

Which means if you want to see Naxx in its 40 man version, do it now -- I believe, as I said way back when we first heard about this, that this is the first time Blizzard has removed major content from the game completely (though it's certainly not the first time they've removed something, poor Captain Placeholder). This, of course, also leaves up in the air what's going to happen to all the items around Naxx -- what about Atiesh? Not to mention lore -- we hear that the fact that a group of players beat KT and took his phylactery and returned it to the Argent Dawn is mentioned in the expansion already -- but how did that happen if the dungeon won't be there any more?
Blizzard will probably clean it all up, and I'm sure that out of game, it'll make enough sense. But it's a shame to officially hear that 40 man Naxxaramas as we know it, the jewel of patch 1.11, will soon be gone forever.

"Won't be there anymore", not "was never there in the first place".

"Hey, everybody, let's have a party to honor the Old World content."
"That would be a real Naxx-a-rama!"
Heh.

The big purple Dalaran bubble is leaving. Why aren't crying about that?
Also, Blizzard can't move Naxx or Dalaran and leave the originals behind. That wouldn't make any sense at all.

Couldn't you just leave the old 40 man Naxx and have it somehow related to Caverns of Time?
Smells like good retcon to me.
Dotixi Aug 7th 2008 6:19PM
@Aumakua
No, because the Naxx "ship"? would exist at two places in Azeroth, which, as far as I know is not good for continuity.
Yes, Blizzard could implement a Caverns of Time instance that would take players back to "Old" WPL to fight the Scourge during patch 1.11 but why would they? Blizzard is updating Naxx and moving it to Northrend which means the World (of Warcraft) is changing. This is a good thing because it means the game is no longer completely static.

because all it involves is a new instance entrance in the CoT, which takes you to and olde world instance. Minimal effort, keeps everyone happy.
personally, i've never done the old instance, and trying to find groups for any old world raid instances is a nightmare if you're not in a guild that wants to do it - and to think i passed on going to MC last night too!
i guess, it comes down to how changed the new WotLK version of naxx is.

A whole raid is different than a useless bubble.'
Also there are two kaels in the same time.
Greg Aug 7th 2008 5:56PM
A whole raid... that is done just slightly less often than Karazhan. /sarcasm

Out of curiousity what happens now to people with the ashbringer...as its a huge part of the quest line aparently in early DK.
Also, must get warrior high enough to have ashbringer, just so I can watch all of SM bow before me. I diserve that, that many runs, so...so many runs......how does herod keep getting back up? Is there some SM priest/pally with a self rez. How many times has he and Mograine been killed I wonder, in server totals (sorry tangent)

Sadly i was not a part of a raiding guild that was in Naxx back in the good old days, (in truth, we downed raggy, then summer came then it all went to pot and didn't get very far in BWL at all) but after speaking to a work colleague, he suggested going to an old school naxx run (as he had the world 5th kill of kelth back in the day) and have some fun. 8 beers later and a shed load of bosses downed i can definitely say that is was one hell of an experience. The people who were leading the raid had clearly done the content at lvl 60 and took everything very seriously and respected the instance for what it is. I was surprised/glad that when off tanking patchwork in full MH/BT/T6 gear i was still being hit for around 8k damage. can't emagine how much fun it must have been back in the days of lvl 60.
If you haven't done a 40 man Naxx yet then you owe it to yourself to do one. it's fun, doesn't take much time and definitely gives you the sense that you've just done something epic [in terms of wow and wow lore]

I should get attuned to Naxx... does Zangar Horde-side still do Naxx runs? Any call for a Ret paladin?
Kiyokko Aug 7th 2008 5:20PM
I don't think Shadowmoon will be entirely useless, I'm sure a lot of players will still want Netherdrakes after the expansion comes out, unless Northrend releases a new flying mount that is even cooler.
awall Aug 8th 2008 2:29AM
I agree. Both zones have plenty of quests to do if you don't want to rush off to Northrend as soon as possible.

It was in EPL, now it has moved to Northrend. This really isn't that hard a concept to grasp.
No one runs the old version anyway... it seems almost as if people are LOOKING for something to complain about.
Taytayflan Aug 7th 2008 6:38PM
Noone runs it? Frostmane, top Hordeside guild (Kinetic) does runs of it every weekend, just gotta be 70 and attuned. They even have people bid on forming up the gear sets. Heck, they were ecstatic when they got the server first with about 30 70's. (They couldn't get him pre-BC)
Barth Aug 7th 2008 5:24PM
Seeing as how hardly anyone ever got to enter it in the first place (and even fewer would ever go there now) I think it's better that it's being altered. It's better this way than just abandoning it like the other 40 man raids.
Ashley Aug 7th 2008 5:31PM
This irks me. If it wasn't going to be made into a crappy 10/25 version starting instance, I don't think I would mind it leaving Azeroth forever.
I hope they do it justice.

My guild is already planning a goodbye to Nax run next weekend. See you all there :)
