There are enhancement shamans annoyed about the elemental shamans stealing their stormstrikes? Say it ain't so!While YOU might lose damage from an elemental shaman's lightning bolts eating your stormstrikes before your earthshocks do, the RAID's damage is better for it. The elemental shaman's lightning bolts will be hitting for more damage than your earthshocks in the first place, and by my calculations, more*more = even more! That might not be meaningful if you're from the meter-watching dps-is-a-measure-of-penis-size school of play, but from a raid leader's perspective I see stormstruck earthshocks as a reduction to my raid's overall damage output. If not for the big boost from elemental devastation, I'd be expecting enhancement shamans to keep flameshocks up for the higher-spellpowered elementals to crit off instead of burning them themselves. But hey, 9% melee crit chance to give you buckets of damage and probably charge up an instant-cast lava burst to start the cycle again. It's chunky and 9% crit will give a lot of damage. If lava burst does end up being able to eat other shamans' flame shocks, I may end up asking my enhancement shamans to flameshock every cooldown so that the elementals can also get critty lava bursts without having to interrupt their casting to shock. There are two reasons for this.1: it means there are no stormstrike charges getting wasted on earthshocks when they could be boosting lightning bolts. Rogue poisons will continue to be an issue, of course, but my guild's kinda short on rogues so it's not something I currently have to deal with much.2: in BC, at least, the elemental shamans I raid with get less damage from flame shocks than from the three quarters of a lightning bolt cast they could've done in the same time. An enhancement shaman doesn't interrupt their regular damage to cast shocks, so the only damage they'd lose is the quite small difference between a flameshock that only ticks for half its duration and an earthshock that gets to hit for full. Maybe the reduced coefficient on lightning bolts doubled with the extra Storm, Earth and Fire will mean that flame shock's worth more than three quarters of a lightning bolt and then the elemental shamans will be better off casting their own. We'll have to see once we're 80 and I'm herding people through raids again.
