Breakfast topic: Wrath info poll
Most of the news coming up from Blizzard has focused on Wrath of the Lich King. We've been working to cover the most up-to-date information on the expansion while staying on top of current events in the existing game. I am excited for Wrath, but I'm taking my time to enjoy the now until it comes out. There are still plenty of interesting non-Wrath-related things going on.
It can be a tough balance between sharing new mechanics and presenting spoilers. We've added features to the site like Ask a Beta Tester and Lichborne, which can be readily ignored if you're not up for spoilers. We've had some requests to slow down on the Wrath news, but many many more to keep it up. How much information do you want before the xpac is released? Take our little poll and let us know where you stand.
| The release date, nothing more | |
|---|---|
| All about the Death Knight class | |
| Map out the zones but leave some surprises | |
| Absolutely everything, spill it already | |
| Doesn't matter, I'm in the beta | |
| Not much, Wrath of the Lich King doesn't thrill me |

Oh, first one to reply 'I'm in the beta' :-D

Voted down for pure envy. :P

"Doesn't matter, I'm in the beta" too :D
But I still want to know the release date.

Ultimately wowinsider is a very focused news site; if you're not talking about WotLK, your material is somewhat limited. I'd suggest providing an easy way to filter out Wrath "spoilers" and leave it at that.

Just keep doing what you've been doing. Put a spoiler warning before the jump, and put all the juicy information after the jump. Those that don't want to see it, won't, and those that are interested in wrath info, can click it and read the article. duh.

There's a fine, fine line. I think that some information is a good thing, but that there's been a bit of an overload. At the very most, I would expect to see NO MORE than one third of the stories to be about Wrath. Just me personally.

I would kill for a beta key.. I'm still spending my time on live being used as a mop by the Black Temple bosses. Startign to feel burnout approaching. Must.. keep.. going..
/despair :'(

I feel like I need to read up on things like talent tree changes and Inscription so that I can figure out how I'll be playing in WotLK. But I'm trying to avoid details of DK quests and screencaps of new zones so that I can experience these things 'raw'. Nothing wrong with posting it, but please keep the spoilerish stuff behind the break so that we can skip it if we want.

Very well put. Exactly my sentiments. Don't wanna hit Wrath and start playing like a noob, but I don't wanna hit wrath and not actually get any new content either.
sheepe Aug 8th 2008 9:49AM
same here, i want to know all about the shiney new talents and spells but nothing about new content.
Auri Aug 8th 2008 9:59AM
I also agree; I'm reading all the info that helps me either get excited for Wrath or prepare for it (such as figuring out how many herbs to stock to powerlevel inscription). But I'm trying to avoid visuals as much as I can to make my first time through the zones on the live servers special. Ditto for major lore spoilers; the lore is one of the most important things of the game for me and I don't want to ruin any of those OMG! moments in the live game by knowing the details before I play.

Spot on, this is exactly how I'd like to see it work.
John Aug 8th 2008 8:47AM
I'm in the beta, but I want you to still write about absolutely everything since I'm pretty focused on testing the DK and either way I can't be aware of everything in the beta just from being in the beta.
Callandra Aug 8th 2008 8:50AM
I really, really want to know how much time I should spend now grinding for gear, or if what I'll get pretty soon in Northrend will be pretty close to par with S2.
Tiyger Aug 8th 2008 8:58AM
So currently ~40% of the respondents want to know EVERYTHING about WOtLK... and ~40% of the respondents want to know NOTHING.
Good luck catering for that demographic. :-)
Joker Aug 8th 2008 8:57AM
Frankly I'd like more info on the professions, I like crafting and I want to see more on inscription as well as what they've done to expand the existing stuff. Sadly that isn't an option on your survey.
dotorion Aug 8th 2008 9:03AM
Knowing a bit is fun to start theorycrafting, knowing too much would just make me burn out on the retail game.
Just the release date and some occasional things that have to do with my class is enough for me.
Markainion Aug 8th 2008 9:09AM
With Warhammer coming out on September 18, I am just wondering how close Blizard matches it:)
Chris Anthony Aug 8th 2008 10:44AM
Not close at all.
Frankly, I'm still stunned that Mythic chose WAR's release date so poorly. That, more than anything else, is going to harm sales and subscription rates.
