BigRedKitty: Devilsaur
Daniel Howell contributes BigRedKitty, a column with strategies, tips and tricks for and about the Hunter class, sprinkled with a healthy dose of completely improper, sometimes libelous, personal commentary.
You've seen pics, maybe even a small movie or two, but have you seen a devilsaur up close and personal?
Well, except when they stomped and chomped you silly in Un'goro? /shudder
Here ya go, then! We tamed one and let it loose in Shattrath City and Nagrand, using all its abilities and letting it rip stuff up.
You are most welcome to download the presented YouTube version (212MB) movie by right-clicking here.
And if you're feeling particularly frisky and want to see this movie in its native format and in stereo, download the full-sized version (324MB) by right-clicking here.
Devilsaur-stompin' is best heard LOUD! We jacked up every sound option, including reverb, so you'll get the full Devilsaur Experience.
/shudder
And remember that the Monstrous Bite spell triggers the Monstrous Strength effect. Don't try to "learn" Monstrous Strength from a trainer or find it in the talent trees; it only comes with Monstrous Bite.
Another great big Thank You to the WoW Insider editors for allowing us to publish this movie both here and on our little blog at the same time!

Haha wicked! I cant wait to grab one of these.
The narrative for this is just a joy.
Mellow Aug 9th 2008 12:23PM
Hehe, nicely done..
I gotta get one of those :)
Rob Aug 9th 2008 12:24PM
Very nice, answers alot of questions. Good job!
Sargentd Aug 9th 2008 12:24PM
The way they walk is very funny.
Fluffylongbottom Aug 9th 2008 12:52PM
I agree, the way the it walks just looks wrong, hope they can give it a more fluid animation than that once it is live. Other than that though it looks pretty savage. Wonder if that walking noise will become annoying?

I've lost all interest in the new pet talents and the new BM tree since learning pets won't have resilience. All the cool abilities and unusual looks aren't worth anything when the pet is dead.
Ahoni Aug 9th 2008 12:47PM
You realize some people actually do more than PvP?
Glyphed Aug 9th 2008 1:25PM
Exactly why do you think that pets should get resilience?
How would it address an existing imbalance? What possible imbalances would it cause?
Radiophonic Aug 9th 2008 12:36PM
lol, he's pretty cute
Unmei Aug 9th 2008 12:49PM
^^;; PVP just got brutal imo lol
jpm1023 Aug 9th 2008 12:55PM
HELL YES!
Zep Aug 9th 2008 1:20PM
Devs said pets are gonna be harder to kill in PVP even w/o resilience.
Faar Aug 9th 2008 4:03PM
What they SAY is one thing, and what they DO is quite another. Pets aren't any more difficult to kill in beta than live unless you spend talent points on extra armor, health (and resistance, though they nerfed that into uselessness in the last patch).
Even if you do spend extra talent points on this it doesn't really matter, because players do such crazy damage these days that a pet only takes seconds to beat down, particulary when it has no resilience.

awesome. i wish ALL warcraft videos were done high-res like this, with great commentary and NO freakin' heavy metal soundtrack. most of the time with the crappy, tiny youtube verisons, they are so lossy i can't see what the hell is going on, and the music levels just drive me away.
kunukia Aug 9th 2008 4:23PM
What you said. One reason BRK is the king...or something...
Iwanttobeasleep Aug 9th 2008 11:22PM
This, exactly. Commentary and no or quiet music.
Perderedeus Aug 9th 2008 2:17PM
Resilience was a band-aid solution to itemization spiraling out of control. Unfortunately, they've become a mainstay... both wild itemization and resilience. Pets (necro pets too) should share a portion of their master's resilience rating. It's only fair, especially considering pets cannot react to incoming attacks like players can. And players (i.e. the pet's hunter) cannot micromanage both themselves and their pet's bevy of "active" abilities - there just isn't the UI space nor Focus management in place to allow for that.

Devilsaurs are going to be a huge BG target. I anticipate hunters who pick one up will have to res them rather frequently.
Kyudo Aug 9th 2008 2:43PM
BRK you are my idol, love your "Huuunterguide mooovies".
Hunter always used to be my main, now I multibox, BM all the way.... 5 hunters all with a devisaur is gonna be seriously epic.
Faud Aug 9th 2008 3:16PM
Is BigRedKitty gonna become HugeRedDevilsaur?
