Thassarian is an Alliance questgiver in Northrend. Koltira Deathweaver is a Horde questgiver in Northrend, as well. The Lich King appears frequently in Northrend. Gothik the Harvester, Noth the Plaguebringer - both make an appearance as questgivers near Acherus for DKs, but end up as Naxx bosses again.

Remember - when you're a fledgling DK is long before when you're a DK in Northrend, so in that time things can change.
So, it's not unlikely Rivendare abandons post in Stratholme and heads out to Naxxramas to fill in as a Horseman.
