Breakfast Topic: Favorite Outland zone

I'll completely agree that a lot of the locations in The Burning Crusade don't match up to our favorites in WoW Classic, but there are places I enjoy. Zangarmarsh is by far my favorite zone. No contest. It's the only zone that really gives me the feeling of "I'm on an alien world." It's something I wouldn't see on Azeroth. The blue tones, the giant mushrooms, the strange marsh creatures. It blew me away my first time running through it. It really was a different world there.
Outland was a bit too heavy on the futuristic sci-fi, but I think Zangarmarsh hit the right tone. What did you all think of Outland? Do you have a favorite zone? We're all eager to move on to Northrend, but is there a zone you'll miss when we're all idling in the frozen north instead of on Draenor? What did you like about it?

Nagrand is my favorite

Agreed, Nagrand was the best

Have to agree there. Nagrand is the most decent looking one. Zangarmarsh is also nice.
ALL the other areas in Outland are complete rubbish, in my humble opinion of course.
Old Azeroth beats the crap out of Outland, when it comes down to atmosphere too.

Yup, Nagrand

Totally Nagrand. The skies, the floating islands, the many skinnable creatures, the factions and their various quests, and the Ring of Blood.
Fantastic zone.

Nagrand, definately. I love going back there to grind on elementals or do the SSO dailies.
The high-fantasy scifi of TBC never really sat that well with me, Nagrand is a nice break from it all.

Agreed, Nagrand was the best

I've only been to Terrokar and Hellfire and Zangamarsh. Zangamarsh is by far and away my favourite place in all of WoW. Its just lovely and full of life and inviting. Except that icky drained place in the northeast. I'd totally go smurf it up and live on a mushroom if I could. :D

Zangarmarsh is also my favourite. Not only does it look fantastic but the wildlife is also really fun to look at. I find myself quickly finished in the zone all too soon when ever my characters reach it, which is a real shame.

The Fungal Jungle rocks. Im working on another alt right now just to enjoy it again.

Nagrand, hands down.
especially at night when the sky looks all mystical and cool like.

Nagrand. Everything from the quests, to the music, to the scenery. It was a great change of pace after leveling in Terokkar.

For some reason, I've always enjoyed Terokkar. Maybe it's because I have fond memories of leveling through there with an old friend who's since quit WoW, but it's always seemed like an amazing zone. I just love the look and feel of it...plus I've always had a secret urge to one day play as an Arrokoa.
Blades Edge has always been my most hated zone, but after I leveled up a horde toon through there, it grew on me a bit. I liked their presence in the zone over the Alliance, and I think it just seemed more 'Horde-suited'. Anytime I play on either character, Horde or Alliance, I just seem to have an expectation on what kind of places I'll be visiting. The Horde zones always seem more gritty and earth-like while the Alliance are much more modernized. So, mostly it depends on the mindset I have at the time.
I remember visiting Nagrand and I fell in love instantly, probably because it reminded me of Azeroth after trekking through Hellfire, Zangar, and Terokkar. However, after visiting the other zones and actually leveling through the grindfest that it is, it quickly shot down on my list of favorites. I never really minded that the setting for Outland was to be very alien and strange, but I liked that change from Azeroth...but I can't wait to get back to that aesthetic in Wrath.

I think that terokkar had the best theme and style going on. but i don't think it got the care and attention it needed. and nagrand is just eye candy very nice, but i'm going with Zangar

Zangarmarsh, hands down. It's the only zone that really blew me away the first time I entered it. For me, it has the most 'Warcraft' feel.

Agreed, Zangar had that 'blow you away' factor. Nagrand was nice and I know lots of people who love it... but it's TOO much like Azeroth. I remember going "wow, this is COOL..." in gchat when I rode into Zangar for the first time.
Hurode Aug 10th 2008 2:43PM
Agreed. I remember my friend got me on a private realm when I was still new to the game, and I remember asking him if I could land on those awesome giant mushrooms flying through Zangar for the first time. It's a great zone and I loved the scenery even from above - there's just a "wow" factor there that I haven't found anywhere else

many people say nagrand, but i prefer the zones in outland that dont look so much like classic wow. this is, as the original writer noted, an alien world and not just a regular continent. northrend would be best kept in a more traditional style, so i kind of see the burning crusade as the artists' chance to go wild. therefore, i'd have to name zangarmarsh, blades edge and netherstorm as my personal favourites. nagrand was nice and had a cozy feel to it, but it was a very traditional, and forgive me, slightly boring, african savannah themed zone. if they took out the weird sky and floating islands, nagrand could very easily have been a zone back on azeroth.
David Aug 10th 2008 8:31AM
I'm in the Nagrand camp, it's just a lot of fun to roam around in.
And I really like Netherstorm.
skynes Aug 10th 2008 8:30AM
I hate Zangarmarsh... hate it hate it hate it. It's an annoyingly large zone with too much water too many aggroing enemies and quests too scattered.
As for the look of the zone, giant mushrooms don't really do it for me.
Netherstorm would be my favourite zone. A barren land decimated and shattered by magic.
