Breakfast Topic: Favorite Outland zone

I'll completely agree that a lot of the locations in The Burning Crusade don't match up to our favorites in WoW Classic, but there are places I enjoy. Zangarmarsh is by far my favorite zone. No contest. It's the only zone that really gives me the feeling of "I'm on an alien world." It's something I wouldn't see on Azeroth. The blue tones, the giant mushrooms, the strange marsh creatures. It blew me away my first time running through it. It really was a different world there.
Outland was a bit too heavy on the futuristic sci-fi, but I think Zangarmarsh hit the right tone. What did you all think of Outland? Do you have a favorite zone? We're all eager to move on to Northrend, but is there a zone you'll miss when we're all idling in the frozen north instead of on Draenor? What did you like about it?

I don't know how anyone could like Zangamarsh at all. Out of all the zones, its the most alien and unfantasy like. The weird mobs, weird plant life, giant mushrooms....it seems like you've dropped into an episode of Star Trek. The whole blue/greenish gloomy feel doesn't do it for me either. Bad bad place.

Netherstorm, and Hellfire penninsula. I love getting scifi in my fantasy. I prefer the look of the barrens to nagrand, terrokar is boring, zangarmarsh annoys me (it's the shrooms getting in the way while flying), and I'm indifferent about blade's edge.

It always bothered me that Hellfire, Netherstorm, and Shadowmoon were pretty much just recolored versions of each other. Plus the tilting terrain in Hellfire and Netherstorm always made me a little queasy.

Nagrand.

Nagrand, easily.

Nagrand for sure, but what I'm really waiting to see is Crystalsong Forrest, screen shots I have seen for that are awesome.

Nagrand by far ! i hate netherstorm... everywhere purple... it just sux ! shadowmoon valley is the second with the powerful background music...

Nagrand was the most beautiful, but I don´t think I will miss it that much because some of the areas are like Nagrand just more northern. Zangamarsh however, is the one I´ll be missing. It is just a cool zone, fantasy on drugs or something like that.

My favourite zone is Zangarmarsh, followed by Nagrand and Hellfire Peninsula. I also like the eco-domes in Netherstorm - the sci-fi element of BC I really didn't mind, it was a nice change.
I prefer the looks of the zones in Northrend though, Crystalsong Forest looks amazing!

Zangarmarsh. No contest.

I love Nagrand, but what about Hellfire Peninsula when it was your first time there. You hear the ground shake and turn around to see a fel reaver for your first time. You immediately go "Holy S**T!" and bomb out of there. That zone has a feeling of war!

As far as Outland goes, Hellfire Penninsula is my favourite thematically, as it's the only one that actually feels like the Outland we saw in WCII and III. Looks-wise, I do like Nagrand though, it feels the most like pre-TBC Azeroth, almost Arathi Highlands-like.
I also like Terrokar looks-wise, but it's got way too many hostile mobs within 10m of each other so it's harder to fully appreciate.

Blade's Edge. I really like ogres.

I still dig Nagrand and Zangarmarsh.
I like the visuals of Blade's Edge with the dragons, spikes, et al, but going back and forth through that claustrophobic zone at level 65 sucks a gronn sack.

Toss up between Nagrand and Zangarmarsh. Zangar's hands down the most whimsical and peaceful place in WoW, right now, and I agree wholeheartedly about it being the only truly alien part of Outlands. It's amazing how much fauna and flora in two totally different planets so happen to be very nearly identically otherwise.

For look... Netherstorm, Shadowmoon and Hellfire for me...
For questing Nagrand is ok... some of the quests are a little grind heavy. plus the whole Corki thing.... Shadowmoon Isn't bad for quests.. There is one quest I hate..... Getting the tablets from the runs south of the Aldor city... I hate that quest... Its way to Aggro heavy in there. I've had so many deaths because of chain aggroing from a repop I couldn't see.

Netherstorm and Nagrand for me. I found Zang not worth it for my rogue, but it's really nice for my mage alch.
Valentino Aug 10th 2008 9:52AM
Nagrand for me.
I hate Blade's Edge.
Wulf Aug 10th 2008 9:52AM
Zangarmarsh and Shadowmoon Valley. Both have really unique and involving atmosphere.
Mairead Aug 10th 2008 9:59AM
Nagrand, definately. Even at lvl 70, I love going out there to farm ore, or just hang out.
