New tailoring recipes discovered in Wrath Beta files
MMO-Champion has just discovered 3 interesting new tailoring patterns in the Wrath Beta files. Rather than things you can sell, however, these are soulbound cloak embroideries, and at least at first glance, they seem very nice indeed.
-
Lightweave Embroidery: Embroiders a subtle pattern of light into your cloak, giving you a chance to cause an additional 800 to 1000 Holy damage when you damage an enemy with a spell. You can only embroider your own cloak and embroidering your cloak will cause it to become soulbound.
-
Darkglow Embroidery: Embroiders a magical pattern into your cloak, giving you a chance to restore 300 mana when you cast a spell. You can only embroider your own cloak and embroidering your cloak will cause it to become soulbound.
- Swordguard Embroidery: Embroiders a magical pattern into your cloak, causing your damaging melee attacks to sometimes ignore 1000 of your target's armor. You can only embroider your own cloak and embroidering your cloak will cause it to become soulbound.
There's no word as of yet as to what's need to create these embroideries.
There's something for everyone here, including amazingly enough, physical DPSers. I suppose there may be a Rogue or Warrior out there who's taken tailoring to make bags or provide spellthread or extra cloth cooldowns to their guild, and now it looks like their offbeat profession choice gets to pay off. For spellcasters, that holy damage shouldn't be resisted by too many enemies, and healers or mana-using DPSers looking for a bit more mana regeneration should enjoy the Darkglow Embroidery.
Hopefully the proc rate on these beauties is enough to justify taking them over a cloak enchantment, but I imagine that if it's not, Blizzard will bump it up.

There is also a magic carpet recipe for tailors

I can only hope you're not kidding. That would be the single coolest thing ever. EVER.

It is true, you can see it on the transcript page of the Blizzcast 4 (it's available on the European site, surely it won't take long before it is on the US too).

Do you think these patterns will be available soon, and if so...are they likely that they'll have to be artisan level to use?

"a chance to cause an additional 800 to 1000 Holy damage when you damage an enemy with a spell"
Would this would with a pally's Consecration / Holy Shield / Blessing of Sanctuary ?
Also, is this affected by spell power?
jjfilmorejj Aug 12th 2008 3:38AM
Do you bite your thumb at me, sir?
Ryan Aug 12th 2008 10:57AM
Why? The embroideries themselves do not bind, they only bind an item when you use it, so that you cannot use it on a twink cape. Everyone (of proper level) will be able to use these. Again: These Are Not Tailoring Only anymore than spellthreads are. (Take a look at the new leg armors on WoWDB, they use the same language)

No, sir, I do not bite my thumb at you, sir, but I bite my thumb, sir.

Lightweave Embroidery is just nice for my priest ;)
Clasifyd Aug 11th 2008 3:19PM
I can only assume this will take the form of Spellthreads (though there are already other new spellthreads) as in 'this is an item'. I understand it is currently 'these are tailor only', but having it remain as such seems to be incongruent with the way the rest of the profession functions.
Either way, my warlock will LOVE casting Shadow AND Holy damage at the same time. Delicious irony!

Nah, doubt it'll be for anyone. I like the idea of having 'me only' tailoring stuff that isn't a set of gear I'll replace by the second 25 man raid.
Embroidering could (hopefully) be used right up to top WOTLK Raids.
mmmm Holy Warlock....

Sounds to me like this is the Tailor version of the Enchanter Only Ring Enchants.
Maybe they will give Blacksmiths Smith Only Belt Enchants as belt buckles next.

I knew it was only a matter of time until I was able to harness the powers of the light while devling into the forbidden secrets of shadow magic....muahahaha
WOW, can you imagine if the lightweave works with DoTs? My little lock could get nast dmg out of every tick depending on the proc rate!
Can you imagine a priest with 2 of the same cloak and one with lighweave and the other with darkglow?
GRATS TO THE PALLY, that kinda of dmg proc could send ur threat through the roof if you are prot, or ur DPS if ur a retadin.
Flooq Aug 12th 2008 10:36AM
Usually there is a hidden cooldown for these kind of procs and sometimes they can't proc on every tick of a DoT - only the initial cast.
They all sound great though, esprcially darkglow because cloak enchants for healers are notoriously terrible in TBC.

The screenshots in this article involves the face of a human with New hairstyle(?).
Aigarius Aug 11th 2008 3:35PM
That would be sweet as there are no good enchants to cloak for casters or healers.

Subtlety. Nuff said.
