Upper Deck releases WoW Minis "demo"
The WoW Minis game is picking up steam towards a release later this year, and after a first play chance at the ComicCon last week, Upper Deck has posted a downloadable demo of the game on their website. In this case, a "downloadable demo" actually means a printable PDF, complete with little figurines to cut out and assemble into a game board. Not exactly the most quality experience, but a DIY demo is a pretty interesting way to test and see how you like the game mechanics. And inside the PDF, you can find a coupon that you can redeem at Gen Con this coming weekend for a chance to play in a preview event, and walk away with some real product from the game. If you can't be at Gen Con, don't worry, Upper Deck is planning some WoW Minis events for BlizzCon later this year as well.
And if you don't have the cash or the time to be flying all over the country and visiting huge groups of nerds enjoying their favorite pasttimes in packs, no big deal either -- the WoW Minis game itself is set for release sometime this Fall. So pretty soon you'll be able to play it yourself in your own nerdy way.

Looks AWESOME.. Personally i don't play the CCG or Table Top Games due to absolutely NO ONE in my area playing them, that stuff usually goes on around Chattanooga and Nashville which is too far away with gas prices as high as they are.

i used to live in chattanooga and atleast last time i checked american comics and card or whatever its called now(i think maybe the dragon cave) is the place for almost anything. im lucky in that i live in seattle now, but being a grumpy old man i dont like doing the store thing that much

Well i know there is a Sci-Fi store in east town mall (i live in knoxville) that does Warhammer table top but other then that no one plays cards, maybe in johnston city or something
in knoxville we have only had a few stores we had one that moved near campus and changed its name to KGB then that closed down and a comic store across town did it for awhile and got closed down, sadly here in knoxville there is no demand for CCG/Table Top, everything switched to video games.. we have like 3 lan centers now and a ton of bars do madden/halo tournies

also, and this isnt wow specific. there r online versions of ccg and tabletop games., like mtgo. i wouldnt mind seeing that with some of the wow games(like ccg in wow like tetra is in ff11) or having a ccg/table top game like that ps3 one that allows you to create decks and play online using the eyetoy cam.

Cool. I admit, I'm not that interested in the game portion, but I'd love to have little metal figurines on my desk. They're much smaller (and probably cheaper) than action figures. Also, hopefully they're small enough to use as D&D characters.

Looks as if they started working on this 3 years ago when MC / BWL loot was hot...

I got to see a lot of these figures at comic con, and tried to buy the starter kit, but they sold out VERY quickly.
The figures are EXTREMELY detailed and would be awesome to just collect and have sans the game itself.
The really cool thing they had was a "miniature" of Onyxia herself. And so much for mini, she was about the size of a small dog! The figures all stand about 1.5-2inches tall, and she is a bit less than a foot tall with a 2 foot wingspan, she's HUGE. I don't know how much she'll cost (if she goes on sale at all) but I'd get it just because!
Was going to post some links to the pics I had from ComicCon, but there's apparently a 3 URL limit for posting here.... :(
