Since +hit, crit and haste now apply to spells AND melee, are we going to see elemental shamans kicking our butts in melee combat as well?

No, because attack power and spell power are still completely separate.

Enhancement shaman will be where this matters as their spells will hit more often and their already great melee will only be better.
