BlizzCon DIRECTV package subscribers to get BlizzCon bear mount
Here's some more information that may or may not assuage the rage if you weren't one of the lucky few who fought past the Fail Murloc to get a BlizzCon ticket. DIRECTV subscribers will have the chance to get the BlizzCon bear mount.
DIRECTV will be selling a BlizzCon coverage package directly through the official BlizzCon site. This package will be free to any new DIRECTV subscribers who sign up through the site, and cost $39.95 for anyone who's already a DIRECTV subscriber.
By purchasing the package, you'll not only get 16 hours of BlizzCon coverage, you'll also get the aforementioned BlizzCon bear mount, the same one that all the con attendees will get in their goodie bag. Sounds like a pretty good incentive to me. The package isn't available for purchase yet, but keep watching the official BlizzCon website to find out when it will be.
[Thanks to Rob for the forward!]

I think a lot of the people who wanted tickets are too pissed off now to get the directTV. Plus, I personally wanted tickets to be there and meet people. If I want directTV I'll look at the pictures WoWInsider is sure to take.

WTB DirecTv subscriber...who also doesn't want the mount.
Anyone?
Calarius Aug 13th 2008 5:37PM
$500, and it's yours. Skip the eBay lines.
Arras Aug 13th 2008 5:39PM
already found one, but thanks ;)
best $40 I've spent all year :D
deviationer Aug 13th 2008 5:08PM
oh we can just pay nothing and see it all on youtube like last time. There was 2-3 people who posted every panel split into 10min or so chunks.
WTafe Aug 13th 2008 5:09PM
Woot. another way for lowlifes to get a $500 ebay mount for $40. Cool that directTV is doing this. but it also seems very dismal since all the big news can be seen in text. the only real video anyone wants to see is an intro movie and/or gameplay.

I don't understand why we have to pay for a live feed. At the WWI in Paris it was free from the official site to watch a live stream.

I canceled my trip to Blizzcon when I heard about this. I am now having my guildies over the house to watch it my theater and I still get the mount.
Stormtamer Aug 13th 2008 5:25PM
Wow, sit infront of an error message for 10 hours and pay crap tons of money to actually get my goody bag handed to me at Blizzcon, only to have something you can get while sitting on your ass at home, have one of the best things in the goody back in it, for half the price of the ticket.
Short of my own in game Chris Metzen (with lore-lol emotes) i cant see much else making it up to people who have wanted something exclusive in-game after sitting through that ordering nightmare.
Way to make the people going to the event feel special by giving away the most exclusive thing in the goodybag to people who order the video.

More cool stuff for people with too much money... great... hope they enjoy it along with there zebra mount and tcg stuff, i'll just be farming for stuff the hard way as usual. :(
DougE Aug 13th 2008 5:30PM
Well, what they're doing is cutting off all the "Ebay" people who bought 5 tickets for eBaying the goodie bags. Now you'll see the bear mounts everywhere instead of them being something special for the Blizcon attendees. I'm glad they're screwing over the eBayers, but it would have been nice for people to know this ahead of time so more tickets would have been available for people that actually wanted to go!
matt Aug 13th 2008 5:33PM
Agreed. Cut the legs out from under the goodie bag scalpers.
RetPallyJil Aug 13th 2008 5:36PM
How nice.
Hey Blizz. How about you give something nice to the loyal players who have lives, and thus can't drop everything to spend a weekend at your realtime commercial?
I've been here since the beginning of 2005. Where's my special mount? Or my special pet? Or my special tabard.
You suck, Blizzard.
doug Aug 13th 2008 6:01PM
It is because you're a retloladin

Sad to say, but RetpallyJil does have a point. Blizzard should at least take the time to make mounts to reward their loyal players who have been around for years. There should be mounts to recongize -"You X have been around for 5 years, here's a special mount for you." Or something like that.
Example: Make a pegasus mount for players when they hit the 5 year loyality mark. That would be a nice gift to people who keep Blizzard in business.

Would be nice if it was a general PPV instead of one company only. That leaves out Dish Network, and all the cable subscribers.
Evi Aug 14th 2008 9:30AM
Agreed. I'm a Dish Network subscriber. It boggles my mind why they would decide to go with DirecTV exclusively. Doesn't Comcast (as much as I hate them) have a lot more subscribers than DirecTV? I would think they'd at least go with the company that has the most subscribers... *shrug*
I've been watching the whole Blizzcon situation with disbelief. Luckily I had no plans to attend this year. After this fiasco, I don't think I ever will. Yeesh, what a disaster.
Iwanttobeasleep Aug 13th 2008 5:41PM
Yawn. Come get me when they start handing out the bubble-hearth ball.
