I still really haven't wrapped my head around the fact that we
can get mounts at level 30 yet -- for so long, it's just been a fact that you don't get to ride anything around until level 40 that I'm still surprised when I see someone under that riding around. But it's true, of course, and Truffled over on WoW LJ took full advantage of that fact, in
addition to the recent changes to reputation at lower levels -- she ran her Draenei through both the Azuremyst and Teldrassil starting areas, and was able be
riding around a Night Elf mount right at level 30, bought for the Exalted price.
Very impressive. She says she hit Exalted only two quests after 30, and that she basically just did every single quest there was to find, save for the Raene's Cleaning end quest (so she could
keep the rod). She doesn't mention /played time (all of the traveling probably added a little bit of extra leveling time in there), but however long it took, it was worth it, as she's one of the lowest non-faction Exalted characters we've seen. Nice job.

I'm doing a similar thing on my Shaman alt... can't stand the Elephant!
I didn't do the Teldrassil quests though, and I still need about 6k rep at level 31...

OMG, i did the exact same thing last year for my dri hunter, with my 70 friend's help(meaning ez mode questing but a bite to xp) and world events like lunar fest, winter fest, etc. i was able to hit exalted at around 30 too. too bad i had to wait another 10 lvls back then.
even tho i too was trying to maximize my rep earning i kept the rod too lol

Same here. I did the Teldrassil quests though. More running around for training than I would have liked but it ended up very worthwhile in the end.
I didn't realize having a mount from another race at 30 was unusual as I saw many right after that patch went into effect (I thought it had something to do with twinks and BG honor--I know nothing of these things). In fact, that's the reason I was tempted to go through the hassle with my shaman (that and avoid yet another elekk).
Alveredus Aug 14th 2008 7:54PM
I did it at 34 on my human.
However, it's really impressive to do this at 30 without Diplomacy as a racial. I have to imagine she needed some assists on quests.
Nice work!

Once you're in your mid twenties, all the NE starting area quests as well as Darkshore don't reward much exp if any for completing quests, however they still payout 250 and sometimes 350 rep with Darnassus for the quests. Once you hit Ashenvale you'll start gaining exp again, but if done correctly you'll probably hit exalted before leaving Ashenvale.

I have a Drennai and when I got my Elekk at 30 I decided I didn't like the look of it and so did the lowbie quests to get a tiger too. Got one around level 32 without exclusively doing the lowbie quests. It's surprisingly easy to do it these days.

I don't know what it is, but it seems like Alliance has an easier time gaining reputation then Horde. I played both a Night Elf & a Draenai, and both were exalted with Stormwind, Darnassus & Ironforge before level 35. While on my Blood Elf & Tauren, It took me until level 45 to hit exalted with UC, and level 48 to hit exalted with Orgrimmar. What's with that?
Marbles Aug 14th 2008 10:19PM
A few reasons.
a) Blood Elves/Forsaken start of Neutral with Orcs/Trolls/Tauren, and vice versa. That's 3000 Rep missing at the start.
b) As level 10-20 Zones go, Alliance have four zones whilst Horde have three - The Barrens doubles as the natural destination from both Mulgore and Durotar.
c) Pretty much all quests in Bloodmyst Isle give Exodar Rep, which means spillover to the other four. Ghostlands gives almost entirely Tranquillien Rep, so no spillover.
d) probably other things I can't think of.
Having levelled a number of Horde character's, doing most quests that I could find, I would stay that you could get:
Orgrimmar ~ 38-40
Undercity ~ 38-40
Thunder Bluff ~ 45-50
Darkspears ~ 55+
Silvermoon ~ 58+ (probably on Falcon Watch quests).

I'm not sure what's up with the darkspear trolls though. Just to see if I could I decided to see if I could get exalted with all factions, and spillover rep actually becomes the easiest way to gain rep anyway after a certain point.
But after I had done pretty much every faction quest I could find (some I skipped because they involved instances) the darkspear rep didn't add up and I was still very short. There are other trolls you can do quests for such as the ones in STV and the hinterlands, however they are not darkspear. When you think about that, you don't get any spillover from the missing rep either.
Interestingly there were some token blood elves added to many points, but there is almost no faction after the blood elf starting zones for silvermoon until you get to outland. However there is also some darkspear trolls conspicuously around outland that make me think that perhaps Blizzard realized some of their faction rep wasn't adding up.
I turned in runecloth and got the epic raptor, but it made me dizzy so I don't ride it anymore.

My Blood Elf is 70 and I'm not exalted with *any* horde factions, including Silvermoon.
I quested in the BE starting area until 25, then went to the barrens and basically stopped getting rep with UC/SM, but never made enough to hit exalted with the Kalimdor factions either.
16512/21000 Revered with Silvermoon is my highest rep.
All the others are revered as well, but lower.
Marbles Aug 15th 2008 12:55PM
The Darkspears and the Blood Elves are the most difficult on Horde side. Possibly Gnomes on Alliance side, though I can't say from experience.
Once you get out of the Barrens, you just have the odd quest here and there to do, for Troll rep, until you hit Outland.
The Blood Elves are even worse, as there is no consistent rep between Eversong Woods (1-10 area) and Falcon Watch (60-62 area). There are aan odd few about (ones in Kargath, Stonard and Grom'gol spring to mind) but those are just an odd few hundred rep.
You really have to rely on "spillover" for in order to get Exalted with them.

I'd gotten my Draenei to exalted with Stormwind around 35, I think. Then patch 2.4 dropped. It was good times.
Tiforix Aug 14th 2008 8:08PM
I'm a bit surprised. I knew when I first made my Shaman that I wanted a tiger, so I did every Night Elf quest I could. I didn't reach exalted until level 40 (I had to do 2 quests at Feathermoon Stronghold to reach exalted). Obviously I missed some. :P
Siona Aug 14th 2008 8:17PM
I did all the Azuremyst and Bloodmyst quests on my draenei, then did all the of the quests for the starter area , Elwynn, Redrock, Westfall, and Darkshire for the horse. I think I had to also turn in alot of cloth as well, and hit Exalted at 35-ish.
Truffled Aug 14th 2008 9:08PM
This is me! Yay! I can't believe one of my posts made it on WoWInsider. /bow Thank you. Thank you. My /played was 2 days.
Truffled Aug 14th 2008 9:14PM
Also, I leveled up two professions... so that is where a bit of the time went to.
Shawndra Aug 14th 2008 9:56PM
My draenei magess Esoterique couldn't stomach the idea of riding an elekk after having tried one out on the Kessel Run. She had her tiger at 30 as well, after completing most of Auberdine quests, and going back to do all the lowbie quests in Teldrassil. Just after 30 she got hers, after doing the quest to kill the spider in Darnassus. I'm sure my /played was pretty high though...I had been using her for an auction house character.
Tygrion Aug 14th 2008 11:16PM
easssyyy to do if you know what you are doing. Me and a mate got tigers for our gnome locks - and were exalted before we dinged 30 ;)
Just takes a bit of planning, and helps to look up what quests give darn rep after the draenai / NE zones run out.
georgeasmith Aug 14th 2008 11:27PM
Under the original system of leveling I got SW rep to exaulted at 40. The new leveling/rep grinding changes annoy me because of this.
Adam Aug 15th 2008 8:04AM
I was full exalted on all 5 at level 33 on my warrior omegai, on my mage i did it for darnassus only so far and I was using a tiger around 30 too. Not all that hard when alliance rep has a stacking bonus( ie every alliance quest you do for one city awards a fraction of rep for other 4 as a freeby.). So by clearing simply 2-3 start areas you are practically exalted with 2 and revered with 3, do one more start area and all 5 are exalted. The benefits of 2.3+ put to work. :)
