Rhonin and Vereesa in Dalaran

Love him or hate him, the latest beta patch has made it official: Rhonin has entered the World of Warcraft. Along with his wife Vereesa, of course. The Violet Citadel in Dalaran had its artificial wall preventing you from getting inside removed in the last Wrath beta patch, and they've begun populating it in this patch. Rhonin, Vereesa, and a couple members of what I assume is the Dalaran ruling Council (the Six).
Rhonin and the two Archmages in the Citadel all seem to be wearing recolors of the supposed Mage Tier 7 that cropped up awhile back, so we can all consider that a definite confirmation. It looks pretty cool, if a bit unusual (wow, a tunic and not a robe!), with the helm turned off. With the helm on, I really couldn't help but giggle. You can see Rhonin and Vereesa above, and we've also added higher resolution images to our Dalaran gallery. Oh, and forgive the poor lighting. They apparently haven't turned on the electricity in the Citadel yet.

All of this Dalaran talk makes me want to roll a Mage :-)

I would too, if wasn't for the fact that mage T7 (??) gear look so out of place as mage gear it's ridiculous

It might be a bit premature of me to ask but how's Sylvannas doing and has her model been updated to a high/blood elf one. It seems silly and extremely lazy if they'd keep her as a Night Elf with her sister being added. Though it must be one of those things that will be added near the end of beta.

Not Rhonin. >.< Anybody but. Please?

They have said it was going to be him for a long time

What are you talking about? He's one of the coolest characters in the lore.

World of Warcraft MMO meet Mary Sue.
Mary Sue, meet World of Warcraft MMO.
Korixa Aug 14th 2008 3:21PM
Seriously. He's very much in my Top Ten sue-characters. Time travel, trained Illidan, best buddies with a dragon, saved another dragon, good grief, did no one EDIT THOSE BOOKS?
Menalaous Aug 14th 2008 2:24PM
WOOT! Lore nerd here, and personally, I think rhonin is pretty awsome. Too bad brox is dead :(. Wonder who's next, these two in the citadel and Krasus in Dragonbligh woot!

This just in: 40 man raids return with Wraith of the Lich King! The Scourge has found Brox's body and brought him back as an undead!
Instance size: Zombie Broxigar, in a room. No trash.
Estimated instance length: Eight hours.

What the hardcore raiders always have been dreaming of!

...well, personally. I just got to Dalaran last night because of a super nice mage who was porting people. And I squealed at seeing Rhonin and Vereesa. I know lots of people hate Rhonin, but I admit the only book I've read of him was Day of the Dragon and he almost had a very... Rincewind feel to him for some reason. I understand he became a bit more ridiculous in the later books, but in that one, he didn't seem so overpowered or overly-important. So I was really happy to see them both.

Day of the Dragon Rhonin is pretty tolerable.
Rhonin teaching Illidan how to use magic is pretty terrible.
Iwanttobeasleep Aug 14th 2008 2:34PM
I got the Rincewind feeling from him, too! All he needed was the Luggage.

Terry Pratchett FTW
XD

Rhonin Sue?
Menalaous Aug 14th 2008 2:38PM
People who dont like the armor, it still fits for Rhonin being more of a battle mage and lore backing that he can use martial weapons almost as well as magic.
And other then you know, killing his own people without caring, turning against his people, making pacts with nefarious demons, killing hundreds of innocents, and then taking control of the legion in outlands, whats so bad about the fact that Rhonin helped Illidain learn who to harness his magic better. He didnt teach, Illidian was already a potent caster when he met rhonin and already the most powerful sorcerer amoungs the NE
Matthew Rossi Aug 14th 2008 2:45PM
It just smacks of over the top levels of promoting Rhonin as a badass. I mean, in the unaltered timeline Illidan learned to use his magic just fine without Rhonin, you know?

You guys also have to remember that the entire Krasus/Rhonin/Broxigar back in the day of the sundering was almost on par with us the gamer freeing thrall in the CoT Durnholde event.
I'm pretty sure once Norz was able to set them back he made things right again and erased everyone's memories of what actually happened.
Basically I saw the entire trilogy of that particular book as one large CoT event so that the gamers who haven't played the original warcraft games could get a general understanding of what happened within the days leading up to the Sundering.
So many people gripe at Rhonin yet having Krasus nearly spill the beans on Deathwing to the other dragons doesn't bother a damn soul, eh?

I'm kinda hoping I can somehow side with the Blue Flight to be at war with Dalaran, just so I can kill Richard, I mean, Rhonin.
Maybe Arthas can smack him about a bit.
