Rhonin and Vereesa in Dalaran

Love him or hate him, the latest beta patch has made it official: Rhonin has entered the World of Warcraft. Along with his wife Vereesa, of course. The Violet Citadel in Dalaran had its artificial wall preventing you from getting inside removed in the last Wrath beta patch, and they've begun populating it in this patch. Rhonin, Vereesa, and a couple members of what I assume is the Dalaran ruling Council (the Six).
Rhonin and the two Archmages in the Citadel all seem to be wearing recolors of the supposed Mage Tier 7 that cropped up awhile back, so we can all consider that a definite confirmation. It looks pretty cool, if a bit unusual (wow, a tunic and not a robe!), with the helm turned off. With the helm on, I really couldn't help but giggle. You can see Rhonin and Vereesa above, and we've also added higher resolution images to our Dalaran gallery. Oh, and forgive the poor lighting. They apparently haven't turned on the electricity in the Citadel yet.

They screwed up their own character- mind you he was screwed up enough but they got his haircolor wrong.
Sylvanas, Alleria, and Vereesa deserve their own models. The Night Elf models look pathetic and don't do the Sentinels justice- and the Blood/High Elf models make them look like bimbos. All three of them are awesome characters and deserve better representation.

Why doesn't her cape match?

So can anyone tell me why everyone hates Rhonin in a nutshell please?
Matthew Rossi Aug 14th 2008 5:56PM
I don't hate Rhonin. I think he comes off pretty well in the first book, and even in the second book I like his acerbic commentary. I just don't think we needed some of the "Rhonin teaches Illidan to do magic! Krasus teaches the dragons... well, okay, Krasus is pretty useless for most of the books" stuff.
Just a personal thing. I'm certainly not as militant as some folks seem to be.

Oh ok then , thanks for the info Matt. Seems like a fair point to me!

This article is serious lacking the information of Who are Rhonin and Vereesa? and why I should or should not be surprised by them being in Dalaran?
MazjinYrael Aug 14th 2008 4:57PM
It's lore. If you don't know about them already it wont really make a big difference to you. If you're curious enough, look them up on wowwiki.com.

He looks cool and she looks hot.
AWSOME.
I always liked Rhonin and all the added lore, its nice to see it in WOW since W3 lore was running low.
The set looks awsome, best mage set ever(only manly set[only tunic set]).
I hope Rhonin actually does something, interaction with him and involvement in the world.

Wildhammer...
The used the NE model for Sylvanas because the Blood Elf models were not even in the game when she was placed as an NPC city boss. Not because "she really looks more NE than BE", or whatever you concocted there. Most of us have been waiting since they released TBC for Blizz to fix her model.

He's such a Gary Stu...

They have Rhonin and Vereesa, but what about their children? Don't they have twin boys?
Terrant Aug 14th 2008 8:13PM
Why is Vereesa neutral but Rhonin friendly?
elprogramer Aug 14th 2008 10:31PM
She's the leader of her anti-blood elf brigade.
Hopefully, I get to put my mace to her skull.

I always have problems taking snapshots because it's too dark in everything. The game normally forces me to turn Gamma almost to the max to see anything and it's at a level where this would almost be entirely white.

I think the mage t7 looks much better with the helm on.
It still looks like plate armor though.
Larry-Steve Aug 15th 2008 3:51AM
Ok, those Mages look badass. Its about time they looked like they're ready to fight and not go to a dinner party.
Now, Blizz, if you could just can ALL kilts ever worn by my shaman I would love you long time...
Larry-Steve Aug 15th 2008 5:22AM
This is somewhat on/off topic.
Its a little hard to see from the pictures here (no offense, its just positioning), but you can see from the pictures on MMO Champion that the three mages in that room are indeed wearing the same armor, but all three are colored differently. (Violet, a light blue, and red)
It was mentioned that the armor they're wearing was the new tier 7 Mage that was leaked from Alpha a few months back. Currently, the Mage tier gear only has one set, as the same stats benefit each build (albeit personal preferences). With Blizz's intent to streamline stats so that more classes benefit from the same pieces, it would be odd to make available three differently colored tiered armor sets for a class that only really needs a single set.
Any thoughts on this? Could be just so the three NPC's stand out, a simple aesthetic mechanic, or it could be Blizz making the effort to allow for more customization of armor pieces... (Yay! My Enh shaman might be able to not look like a complete clown!!)
Don Karnage Aug 15th 2008 6:22AM
Well my initial thought was that the reason why the colours differed from each other was due to them being obtained in different ways. For example one could imagine the red one being the new pvp-set, while the two “bluish” sets could drop from either 10-man or 25-man instances.
Larry-Steve Aug 15th 2008 8:41AM
That was a thought of mine as well, but I wasn't sure where all three would go. A PvP, 10-man, and 25-man does sound like a logical explanation though... good call!

Will be interesting to see Vereesa's relationship with her sister. Sylvanas being very much pro-Blood Elf, and Vereesa being pro-High Elf. Vereesa being fairly staunch in her commitment to the Alliance, Sylvanas now being a Horde leader, though obviously holding a love for her homeland and sisters still.
Vereesa's commitment to the Alliance must call for her to disown her sister, or maybe to claim that the current Sylvanas isnt the "true Sylvanas", whilst Sylvanas' hatred for the Alliance is well documented. Then Alleria will also be thrown into the mix some day. I really hope Blizzard explore the relationship between the two rather than ignoring it.
