Breakfast Topic: What tabard do you wear?
So I have to admit, one of the most annoying parts of Beta testing my Death Knight is that I don't have access to any decent tabards. It's annoying, and I feel almost naked without one, but I don't have the time to grind exalted with any factions.
Thinking about that got me thinking about my tabard choices for my other characters. Of course, in Wrath, tabards are going to get all mixed up a bit, what with that new championing system, but I'll probably keep my favorite tabards on hand for swapping in when I'm not grinding faction. Actually, I may just tend toward my guild's tabard in Northrend, since our guild's backstory is intertwined with Northrend itself. Besides, I like to show a little guild pride when I can, and it's been a while since I wore a guild tabard on any of my alliance 70s.
Currently, my Druid wears the Cenarion Expedition tabard. Not only does the green and brown go well with his leather, but it's the closest there is to a Cenarion Circle tabard. For my Dwarf Hunter, it's an Argent Dawn tabard, since she's an especially zealous enemy of the Scourge. For my Warlock, the Scryer's Tabard, because he admires the Blood Elf race and (what he sees as) their dedication to knowledge at any price.
So why do your characters wear the tabard they wear? Do you plan to do any tabard swapping for Wrath of the Lich King?

No tabard on my lock. Demonsoul robe is too sexy to cover up.
Pally has the summer flame, but about to bank it. I prefer to run tabardless unless the chest item is rather ugly as sin.

My druid sticks to his guild tabard. Partially because he's got exalted with nobody, I don't play him much.
My paladin, on the other hand, varies between the guild tabard when I'm wearing something red, the Kurenai tabard for normal occasions, and the Scryers tabard for an outfit or two.
Ah, the joys of losing inventory space to life on an RP server..

Shaman: None(Hoping for SSO)
Paladin: Blood Knight Tabard
Mage: Tabard of the Protector
Druid/Warlock: None. There isn't a tabard I want on those characters.

Tabards look stupid on casters so I don't wear one and never have. Personally, I think they're overated.

My warlock currently sports the consortium tabard because it actually goes well with his gear and my paladin is going with scryers until I find something better.

Since the Spirit of Competition event started, I've taken to battleground PVP to an extent that far supercedes all my prior, brief flirtations with the concept, even long after getting my Paladin's tabard and dragon. As a concession to this, and because I really think the bright, happy, naivety of the design suits her, I've really taken to wearing said tabard. It's almost like a Sesame Street tabard. :D

Summer Flame on the hunter, nothing on the shaman. As someone said above, tabards look really awkward "tucked in".

personally, I don't wear any, as all tabards look pants on head retarded with a robe IMO, and spellfire is virtually my religion as a fire Mage.
miked Aug 18th 2008 10:13AM
^ truth for all fire mages, in my opinion.
for me, it's guild tabard or no tabard. i've created a guild for my alts, and most of them are wearing the guild tabard with the exception of my warlock (her robes clash with the colors). the tabard isn't part of the culture of my main's guild... i don't know a single person that wears it... so he's tabard-less. though i'm not sure if i would wear it anyway, why cover my fire mage regalia? =D

Personally I like the horde "scout's tabard" the best. It only requires you run 6 battlegrounds (assuming you win at least one each) so is really easy to get. The Frostwolf tabard is pretty cool, but unfortunately doesn't make a good match for 99.5% of the armor in the game. I'll probably wear the Defilers tabard around when I get it, but that will be a loooong time from now.
Scryers also have a nice one I'd be willing to wear if I wasn't so sick of signets. And the Spirit of Competition tabard is probably the lamest tabard ever. I got it on my priest, and I don't wear tabards on casters so I don't think it matters.

i wear my guild tabard, but i am holding out hope that with the new achievement system we get old world faction tabards. i would give anything for a tabard of the timbermaw. i still pop my trinket for shits and giggles in the cities, but the timbermaw are a group who's plight i was able to really appreciate. the grinding of old world factions, although pretty simple is still very tedious and anyone who is willing to do it should be rewarded.

Druid: Tabard of the Protector
Paladin: Tabard of the Scarlet Crusade
I don't see myself switching that up. The emote on the Protector is fun before an Archimonde run. Scarlet Crusade is simply the best Tabard in WoW.
Acrowley Aug 18th 2008 10:09AM
My Hunter and rogue currently "Sport" the Spirit of competition (Olympic) tabard :-D
Jeff Aug 18th 2008 10:13AM
If you have some sort of matching armor wearing any tabard is usually pretty horrible looking. Especially as a mage when the tabard will get tucked into a robe (looks horrible). I've got the full shadoweave set and looking at that with no cape/helm visible is so nice. It will be a sad, sad day when I have to replace that.
Castellan Aug 18th 2008 10:13AM
Purple Trophy Tabard of the Illidari for 'locks - glowing felfire green, what's not to like!
Arras Aug 18th 2008 10:17AM
guild tabard only - i collect other tabards, but I don't wear them
I could care less how much my armor matches or if it clashes, I care about the stats on my gear.
Runstadrey Aug 18th 2008 10:22AM
My toons are all horde and except for Belfs, their posture is so poor nobody can see the tabard.
Opala Aug 18th 2008 10:25AM
Tabard of the Argent Dawn!
goes best with my slayers armor, and scourge related stuff always best
Wear Tabard of the protector on my warrior, as he's draenei, and thats a very rare thing to have on one
HankD Aug 18th 2008 10:47AM
My warrior is wearing Summer Flame, it matches his gear nicely.
My mage is a belf, so it felt right to wear the Scryer one.
My belfadin is wearing the SSO one for lore reasons... if it's good enough for our Lady to convert to (repeatedly ad nauseam in Shat), it's good enough for me... :)
CanadianZero Aug 18th 2008 10:31AM
SSO because are guild tabard looks worse then the competitors tabard.
which i was high enough to get the summer flames tabard when you could...
