Breakfast Topic: What profession will you be going for in Wrath?

With Wrath's release inching closer and closer, we've had a flood of profession information coming in. The latest Blizzcast gave up some insight into the future of professions, and we've seen rumors and recipe lists for quite a few professions. Even gathering professions aren't immune to the fun, with some nice little innate bonuses being granting to mining, skinning and herbalism.
So, with Wrath coming, it's the perfect time to take inventory of your tradeskills and decide which way you're going to go. Will you drop Leatherworking now that you don't need the drums for raiding? Will you head over to Inscription so you can trick out your own spells and skills? Will you go strictly gathering for the buffs and for selling off raw materials to everyone trying to level their professions?
In short, what profession will be your primary pursuit in Wrath of the Lich King?
| Inscription | |
|---|---|
| Alchemy | |
| Blacksmithing | |
| Enchanting | |
| Tailoring | |
| Jewelcrafting | |
| Leatherworking | |
| Engineering | |
| I'm going with gathering skills |

Sticking with Engineering and Mining on my main. Might be swapping JC for Inscription on my shammie. Not too sure.

I'm sticking wit mining and engineering. Roflbike!

Well, I have 2 main characters... an orc hunter with herb/engi and a destro wl (raiding) with tailoring/enchanting.
I dont believe that engineering will be pushed strongly. some goodies, not more. the best would be again a particle extractor. together with herb => much money :)
tailoring wont be so imba like at the beginning of tbc, but i will give a good start, so i will push it from the beginning. enchanting will be very expensive again, so it's not my primary goal to push it to max.

All of them, except Blacksmithing, probably. I'm 5-boxing with R-A-F in order to have a full stable of toons when Wrath hits.

My main will continue to be a LW/skinner (bear druid). My 70 mage is going to drop alchemy for inscription and keep tailoring. I already made provisions for that by making my farmer (70 hunter, was mining/herb) into a master alchemist...keeping herbalism on her. My 70 resto shammie is going to keep her eng/mining. And finally, my death knight will be a miner/blacksmith.
Heh, looks like I have no life with all those alts. But only my mage/druid get played. I just get bored with grinding so I level alts instead.

Jewelcrafting & Tailoring

Well Since lead profession dev Lecraft appears to be breaking his word on helping leatherworking. I'll probably end up dropping that after 3 years for inscription.
Riodhr Aug 19th 2008 8:15AM
My main's got herb/mining for money, and it was done in anticipation of dropping mining come wotlk to get inscription. However I'm gonna fill about 6 bank alts with pre-bc herbs to sell to inscription power levelers. Mmmm gold.

Mining/Engineering on my main (Warrior)
Herbalism/Skinning on my alt (Druid)
herbalism/ Inscription on my soon to be 70 (Rogue)

As it stands I will probably drop leatherworking for inscription. Though it will largely depend on whether they put restrictions on what enchants can be put onto parchment for trading. If they don't allow you to trade high level enchants, then I will probably drop enchanting instead.

I dropped skinning for JC on my main (bear tank), 371 and counting. When Wrath hits I'll be dropping LW for Inscription. My primary alt has mining and herbalism.
I feel this way I'll be able to keep up with rep patterns and raid drops.
Jaem Aug 19th 2008 8:28AM
Flying carpet FTW!!!!
Phil Aug 19th 2008 8:33AM
I'll be sticking with mining for the money and tailoring for the carpet and gear (destro lock). Flying carpet ftw!
My new up-and-coming shaman has herbalism, but I haven't decided on alchemy or the upcoming inscription. (Or a second gathering profession, I suppose.) I think I may just give her alchemy and see if it's still useful or profitable by the time Wrath gets out.

I need to have at least one character with inscription. Tauren druid forms are ugly. I also have a 375 engineer/enchanter and a leatherworker.
poPixel Aug 19th 2008 8:36AM
My new druid (hoping to hit 70 before the expansion) will drop skinning to pick up Inscription to go along with herbalism.
My 70 hunter will keep skinning and mining - lucrative AND new innate bonuses!
Fenryz Aug 19th 2008 2:56PM
Going for them all - already have every crafting and gathering skill maxed out. So my Deathknight will most likely take inscription to save time on leveling. Im a total crafting nut, and hoping Blizzard would give even more space for us who likes to build and tinker with stuff.

I need more information on how Inscription works to know whether it's worth picking up this new profession, or merely relying on others to support me. I have yet to see any specific BoP aspects of this profession to jump over yet.
Khanmora Aug 19th 2008 9:00AM
My shaman will be keeping mining/jc'ing, my druid will keep skin/lw, my warrior will keep herb/alch and my priest will keep tailor/chant.
Right now I am undecided if I want to keep bs on my pally or drop it for engineering. My dk will either go inscription or bs if the pally drops it. My rogue is currently mining/herb but if I go with engi on the pally, and bs on the dk then I might put her on inscription duty. I am waiting to see what the BoP high level items are going to be for each profession before I decide.
Cyanea Aug 19th 2008 9:01AM
I've got four "mains".
Hunter is keeping Mining/Engineering.
Druid is keeping Alchemy/Herbalism.
Warlock is keeping Enchanting/Herbalism.
And the Pally is picking up Herb/Inscription
Jaynitan Aug 19th 2008 10:21AM
Four mains right now as well
Balance Druid = 375/375 LW and Skin
Lock = 375/375 tailor/enchant
Hunter = 375/375 Miner/JC
Rogue = 375/375 herb and alch
My new Dk will prob be BS/miner or engineer/miner
One of my lvl 40ish toons (hopefully 70 by expac) will be an inscriber.
My 41 mage = 225 miner 200 JC. She will prob drop JC and mining to become a engineer and inscriber or maybe tailor Inscriber
