Traces of the Wrath cinematic found ingame

And while most players assumed the wyrm was Sapphiron (the frost wyrm boss of Naxxramas), MMO Champion doesn't think so -- there's a model in the beta called Sindragosa (labeled "The Frost Queen"), and there's a place called "Sindragosa's Fall" -- we're not sure where it is in the game, or if that's it above, as Icecrown Citadel has barely been explored.
So maybe further questing and lore in the expansion will give us a little bit of a clue as to what exactly Arthas was doing in that trailer. Odds are that dragon we saw is ingame somewhere, and we players are probably just the dragonslayers to slay it.
Update: Yep, the area is Sindragosa's Fall, which makes the dragon almost definitely Sindragosa. So it looks like the summoning we saw in the cinematic might be more story significant than we thought.

Keeping in mind that Sindragosa's name carries -gosa which also ties her into once being part of the Blue Dragon Flight. Given that she is also one very huge dragon and given the title Queen leads me to theorize that she could have possible been one of Maylgos's Consorts in life, and in death it shall be she who lords over the Frostwyrms.
that's my take. :x I can't wait for all the lovely lore to come out about it.

Now that I think of it, wasn't Sindragosa the consort we killed and burned to horrify Malygos?
nav Aug 23rd 2008 8:29AM
No, that's Saragosa.
BAgar Aug 22nd 2008 9:47AM
Damn, look at the screenshot of Syndragosa's fall on MMO-Champ, it's just the photo you posted, from a different angle !
Cru Aug 22nd 2008 9:48AM
I liked it!
Zarkharaan Aug 22nd 2008 9:52AM
Nah... Just remembered that wasn't her. But yeah, -gosa - blue dragon previously. Well, not very surprising.
Unmei Aug 22nd 2008 10:03AM
Lore wise a majority of Frostwyrms are Blue Dragons, but not all of them are. Since they are raising dragon corpses from the dead it's tricky to tell their origin's. :)
Searif Aug 22nd 2008 9:57AM
It wouldn't be Sapphiron because he was killed and raised in TFT by Arthas, as for the frost wyrm, how do we know its not just a random dragon that was stuck under the ice?
Baharroth Aug 22nd 2008 10:40AM
well it was ridiculously massive, bigger then normal dragons, so that means its gotta be something of importance
john Aug 22nd 2008 10:20AM
Why would Arthas go out to the middle of no where, Stop, wipe the snow away like he knew something was there and then free it if it if it were not going to help him? I don't think it's just some random dragon.
Zghuk Aug 22nd 2008 10:03AM
Could it be?
Malygos' true love? dead and now undead?
Is this the reason of Malygos' behavoir? Will be Malygos normal when we kill/rescue arthas?
Unmei Aug 22nd 2008 10:06AM
Nah Malygos' is crazy because he feels mages have gone -too- far running around using magics like it was nothing. He remembers the days the Kaldorei Highborne used their magics to initially bring the Burning Legion into our world. He wants it to stop and doesn't care how many he has to kill to make that happen.

While the name suggests blue dragon flight, the last major battle including dragons that far north would have been Sargeras' second coming to Azeroth when the Burning Legion launched a Dragon hunt (revenge anyone) and Medivh's mother Aegwynn finally "killed" the dark titan. However, the betrayal of Neltharion had already happened and most of the blue flight, including Malygos' consorts had been turned to dust. It does make me wonder who this is/was. Either way, the light shall find its way to easing her soul, or my 2 giant (no longer slowed) axes will find their way into her neck if she stands between me and arthas :P
Unmei Aug 22nd 2008 10:41AM
While it's true it could have been the burning legion that killed her. I still stand by my theory as to who she was in a former life. Obviously not all of Maly's consorts died during the war of the Ancients or how would you explain the Saragosa (she is a consort of Malygos, and we do have to kill her as part of the quest)
Imo at least in life she deems important enough to be a full grown Dragon, be given the title Queen, and have a Name associated with the prime Flight of the region.

The open ice is also represented on pictures of the World Map of Icecrown Glacier from the Beta. You can find it here: http://www.wowwiki.com/Image:WorldMap-IcecrownGlacier.jpg
At the top right corner, and yes, it's called Sindragosa's Fall.
s256 Aug 22nd 2008 11:00AM
Maybe this is happening now and an army of scourge, controlled by Sindragosa, is going to attack the Alliance and Horde.
BAgar Aug 22nd 2008 11:03AM
Now THAT would be cool. That would ease my pain for having missed the major invasions at the release of the Necropolis patch and TBC.
Unmei Aug 22nd 2008 11:18AM
Now THAT is a theory/idea I like!
+1 !

Maybe Sindragosa, behind a Scourge army, shows up to attack Stormwind after laying waste to Darnassus and Ogrimmar. Varian Wrynn leaps into action but the forces of the Alliance are outmatched and all appears lost. Then, a force of Aldor and Scryer Paladins escorted by some Naaru come through the Dark Portal and save the day. In the aftermath, Varian puts together a Northrend expedition to take the fight to Arthas.

here's the strange thing. There is no mention of Sindragosa or Frost Queen on WoWWiki. Which means there is no current lore for her. So they are making shit up again.
