"If your character was part of any other clan, however, she would have been consumed with blood rage like all the rest, and would have taken part in the horrors of the genocide, as well as the First and Second Wars."
From what I understood, the Frostwolves were not the only ones to pass through the Dark Portal. I haven't yet read "Rise of the Horde" by Christie Golden, but according to the Blizzard's webpage, "After the exiled Frostwolves charged through the portal, only a few orc clans followed. These orcs quickly set up a base of operations within the Black Morass, a dark and swampy area far to the east of the kingdom of Stormwind." (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/story/chapter4.html#22)
I play a character whose clan was divided over whether to follow Drek'thar, and only a portion of them actually stayed behind and were persecuted for their refusal to "go along." He and his family grew up alongside the Frostwolves, although not a part of them. My main struggle has been to keep my character's structure relevant to the events in Lore, but not so intertwined that he becomes too "epic" in nature.
Also, how can I view the outline of the clans on the Dramatis Personae forums? It comes up as "You are not authorised to read this forum."

You'll get conflicting information here and there about exactly which clan did what when and who spoke to whom at what time, and things like that. I understood that almost all the orcs went through the portal into Azeroth, but it could be that all the orcs who matter to our story went through the portal -- especially since so many of those who may have stayed behind in Azeroth could have been killed in the destruction of Draenor, or turned into Illidan's fel orcs, or who knows what else.
If you want to read Dramatis-Personae's forums, you'll need to register to become a member. If you don't want to do that, you could settle for the WoWWiki info I provided a link for.

Even having joined Dramatis Personae, access to the outline of various clans unfortunately seems to be blocked.

Oh... hmm. Maybe they need a moderator to approve the application or something? I'm not sure. Be sure you're logged in after registering and all that, and if all else fails, email the admin.
