Blood Elf tank and Murloc hair bow, as seen on Etsy
Alice Taylor has quite the eye for scoping out awesome gaming crafts, and just recently, she did a nice roundup (and another post) that had two great handmade WoW items in it. First up was this great-looking Sin'dorei (that's Blood Elf, in case you're not up on your Thalassian) tank top -- it was originally a T-shirt that the maker, smarmyclothes, turned into a tank top with some industrious cutting and stiching. Looks great -- at $52, the price is a little steep, but then again, this is a one-of-a-kind handmade item, so you get what you pay for.And second was this Murky hair bow -- to tell the truth, I have no idea what a hair bow does (it must tie hair back or something, right?), but I am a huge Murky fan, or at least a fan of /punting the little guy, so any article of clothing with him on it, no matter what it's for, gets my approval. The bows are two for $11, and it looks like there's only one in stock, so SugarPopRibbons is probably making them to order. But I'm sure if you're patient, you can get your hands (or hair, I guess) on one.
Seen any other great WoW crafts, on Etsy or anywhere else? Let us know!

Aww, what a pretty huggable girl! :)
Oh, and the shirt's kinda cool too, I guess.
...I'm not being wow-geeky enough, you say? Ah darn. I guess I've lost touch with my inner murloc since Blizzard's seen fit to NOT send me a beta key. :P

lol photoshop or camera tricks. You can tell by checking the link with the other pics. Way too smooth and bright to be natural.

I don't know if it was an edit, but the post mentions that it was just a shirt that was modified.

I hate to be the debby downer here... But... aren't these copyrighted property of blizzard that these Etsy sellers are profiting from?
Blizzard probably dosn't care to go after all the lil people so the seller is probably safe. HOWEVER, if someone was ripping off MY artwork/designs and selling it on etsy as their own creation, I'd be mad as heck.
I'll stick to the licenced merchandise. Thankee.

Truth. C&D. Ker-smack. Wait and see.

Legally there is nothing wrong with what she is doing, she isn't printing her own shirts. She is buying official, licensed shirts, modifying them and then reselling them. Blizzard isn't losing any profit from this, they've already got money for the shirts before she even sells them, and since blizzard isn't offering tank-top versions of this shirt.. theres no real conflict here.
The only profit she is making here is a direct result of her own work in modifying the shirts.

Aye, I am not a lawyer, but I agree with ANeM -- I'm almost sure this would qualify as a "derivative work" and should be protected. I mean, nothing's going to stop Blizzard from suing if they want to -- even a frivolous lawsuit can cause trouble.

But how much for the girl?!?
Ezhuks Aug 25th 2008 4:37PM
Well, considering that she's one-of-a-kind, it could be pricey ...
Goo Aug 25th 2008 7:42PM
Hmm...my guess would be around 102k gold, 57 silver and 12 copper.
...Goo

Couple of the posters here showing why most real life girls play male characters on WoW and other MMOs... they are just breasts guys. :|
zappo Aug 25th 2008 7:25PM
"they are just breasts guys"
My girlfriend says the same thing. I also tell myself that when I oogle a girl's chest. It doesn't seem to make a difference though...

"They're just breasts."
"They're just breasts."
"They're just breasts."
... Nope, sorry, still starin'. I'm a dirty old man, I'm sorry.
