WoW Insider Show Episode 52: Club Penguin is the WoW-killer
We were live on WoW Radio as usual last Saturday with our weekly podcast, and this past week we welcomed Krystalle Voecks of our sister site Massively into the mix, as well as Daniel "BigRedKitty" Howell, and of course the Turpster. Krystalle chatted with us about what's planned for the big DragonCon event in Atlanta this weekend (WoW Insider will be there, even though I unfortunately won't be), and we also talked about:- The pending release of Warhammer Online and what it means for WoW players.
- More beta talk, including those changes to Warriors that made it into the game and BRK's favorite things about all the pets he's been trying out.
- Sylvanas' model change, and whether she's hot or not.
- And of course we answered emails, including your questions about our legendary missing show, why female Draenei broken are the only ones who wear hoods, and what exactly private servers are.
And if you missed the live show this past week, we do this every Saturday afternoon at 3:30 Eastern, so tune in live on WoW Radio's website, and you'll even be able to join us in IRC chat. Enjoy the show this week, and have a good one.

why do you limit yourselves to just itunes?
millions of people dont want that bloatware shit on their computers.
use some other outlets
wowinsider Aug 26th 2008 3:28PM
Are you really this thick?
1. You can download it straight off the site.
2. You can use any podcatcher you'd like as it's served through an RSS feed just like any other podcast.
I think the bloatware shit is that mass of tissue you call your brain.
vlad Aug 26th 2008 4:16PM
this thick? pwned with ye olde english. good game chap!
you obviously dont understand the point so its probably best you quiet yourself :)
try latin or esparanto next time. till then futue te ipsum!
wowinsider Aug 26th 2008 5:01PM
Awww, are you all hurt because you didn't engage your brain before typing on your keyboard?
You do realize that iTunes is just another podcatcher, right? Sure you did champ. I'm really the one with the reading comprehension problem.
Nice job whipping out some profane latin. I'm sure your mom will be mighty impressed when she comes down to the basement to serve you a hot pocket.
vlad Aug 26th 2008 5:18PM
"all hurt"? so you go from olde english to hillbilly?
good job googling the latin. what that take 2 seconds?
anyway, i have grown tired of you. you still dont understand the point and your not cunning enough an opponent. i was really hoping for something even minutely creative or original and not just the typical "moms basement/hot pocket" kids play.
you win.

vlad is rather prone to trolling so I assume that's what he's doing, but let me assure those who are confused that WoW Radio productions are available via all kinds of different means, more so than other podcasts. Our website makes all past shows available for streaming and download, every show has it's own RSS feed, as well as a feed for the most recent 25 shows. Our RSS feeds are picked up by every podcatcher of note, not just iTunes, our shows are broadcast live at scheduled times throughout the week and our 24/7 stream is also a great place to catch up on shows you've missed, since we do repeat the more recent productions at various times in our schedule.
Needless to say, you'll have no trouble listening to our shows, and soon enough we'll be available to listen to on mobile devices too.

Hey Vlad, how exactly is "thick" "olde english"?
As TB said, you can get all this content in a variety of ways.
You're truly a moron. Get a life.

Have you guys tried Skype for recording your remote people? Not sure what you're using now, but obviously a few glitches here and there. A few other podcasts I listen to use Skype for remote individuals.
When playing with friends in 5-mans we typically resort to Skype as well, over Vent (which of course we use for raids).
Other than the audio dropouts, nice work. Good show!
Beefeater Aug 26th 2008 5:06PM
Nevermind. You're using Skype. Just got that part of this episode.
TotalBiscuit Aug 26th 2008 5:50PM
Skype is not exactly perfect, though we do use it to host live shows when the hosts are not in the same room. The podcasts are produced by having all hosts record themselves in a third-party audio application while they do the live show, and then sending their individual vocal channels to a producer, who composites them all together to produce a higher quality production. This is not prone to Skype's audio dropouts and varying quality. Even then though, that's not perfect. On a show with a wide variety of guests who have varying audio hardware and setups, things can go wrong, that's just the way of it. There's not a lot you can do about it, but we do our best to ensure that the quality is on par with the other podcasts out there. We think we succeed in that regard, though we'd still like everyone to be in the same studio. That's a pipedream sadly :)

Mike, if you keep messing up Krystalles name, try and think "crystal vase" next time. :P
Also, I think Sylvanas looks more accurate, however, it would be better if her pose was more unique and befitting. :)
Bonus points to turp for the thoughtful shoutout at the end.

BRK? Pass.

The yellow npc is a ranger trainer, and shares the same second name as Sylvannas from UC, Sylvannus was previously a High elf ranger before she became a banshee
Vidi Aug 26th 2008 7:31PM
Mike,
there is no WoW killer. A WoW killer is a myth and ANYONE who knows about MMO's knows this to be true.
The fact that you are perpetuating this silly stupid lame myth just proves you have no real knowledge of the genre.
TotalBiscuit Aug 26th 2008 7:38PM
Sorry man but that's a pretty poor excuse for an argument. To assume that there is no WoW killer is just as bad as assuming that there is one. The success of WoW was unprecedented, it's quite clear that the MMO genre as a whole is still in it's infancy and there are many possibilities for unforeseen upsets and changes in the future. Next time try cooling your nerdrage off and bringing some actual facts to the table.

The Windrunner sisters are all famous for their bravery. In a nutshell:
Alleria, the eldest, fought the horde with the alliance in the first war and went through the dark portal with Khadgar and Turalyon. We haven't found her in Draenor yet, but there's an alliance stronghold named after her.
Sylvanas, the middle child, wasn't just a high elf ranger, but the top commander of the high elf forces, the Ranger General. Arthas purposely raised her as a banshee in revenge for the trouble she'd caused him.
Vereesa was the youngest. Her story with Rhonin is told in the book, "Day of the Dragon". They are married and have twins.
