I have different advice actually. Try to get into a PUG kara run. Alot of well-geared guilds will do these and just look for warm bodies to fill out the group. With a 10 man you can have more slack than a 5 man heroic. If the guild that is running kara is good (and you need to know who the good guilds are), then chances are they dont need loot anyway. When our BT guild runs kara, we'll take warm bodies, and as long as they aren't god-awful we dont care if they take all the loot (or at least most of the loot). But when you pug kara you should have some loot rules established and know what they are. We like group loot but often guilds will masterloot and make sure guildies get first prioirty. Just my $0.02 but you can get a hell of alot of gear from a single kara run. (gear that will last till mid-Wraith if wowhead is any indication)
