My suggestion is don't over estimate yourself. I've been invited to a lot of heroics where the characters in the group just were not in appropriate gear for the instance. It is very frustrating and I generally end up leaving and don't take away good feelings for the under-geared which will make me question grouping with them in the future.Stick to the normal instances until you're ready to move on, then go to the easiest heroics, not the hardest ones. Make sure you're pulling your weight. If you're a DPSer get a dps meter and make sure you're keeping up with others in your group. If you're not, you need to read up on how to play your class to maximize your performance, tweak your spec, understand your gearing choices for your class. Your group mates are probably running DPS meters and will notice if you're not pulling your weight.Heroics are hard for PUGs and now is the time to really, really know your class. Read the write ups at Elitest Jerks and be a good player.
