I love reading the comments about not being a hunter. My main is a BM hunter, my usual alt is a Warrior. In my guild, my main and another BM hunter are usually in the top 3 dps/overall damage on Kara and ZA runs, and never have I seen either of us under the fifth spot. We can also chain trap, misdirect, and dump aggro when needed. Yes, there are huntards out there, but there are also tards in every class. The majority of the pugs that I've run which have failed have been the fault of mages. That doesn't mean I stop running with all mages, just the ones that wipe the run consistently. As for finding a group, I agree with most of the posters. Use your friends list, use lfm instead of lfg, and spam the lfg channel to find a group. Sometimes it doesn't hurt to spam trade as well, although you may get some grief from the people spamming http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28768 jokes.@Fletch: Sometimes it is the tanks fault. If the hunter pulls aggro and FD's, the tank should still have enough threat to bring it back to him. If you are healing to the point that the mob comes to you, check your tank's gear. He's either undergeared, unknowledgable about building threat, or (not pointing fingers) you need to stop overhealing him.@Everyone: Omen. Omen. Omen. Download it, install it, use it. It's easy, and it's enough of a necessity that Blizzard is building a threat meter into the next expansion. It will save you from repair bills, and may mean the difference between a good run and a disbanded pug.

Yeh, occasionally it is the tank being a little undergeared (when I say undergeared, I mean gear that is still viable for a heroic, but a mix of green and blues rather than fully epic'ed out). When the tank is undergeared you often don't have much choice but to overheal because spike damage becomes far too unpredictable. This isn't a problem as I can usually avoid building too much threat through careful use of low-threat binding heals, but once aggro is lost survival becomes much more of a lottery. I think damage meters probably have a lot to answer for. Too many dps classes want to prove how big their dick is by topping the damage meter no matter what the cost.

I think hunters get their rep because A) it does seem to appeal to a younger crowd B) Hunters are probably the easiest character to solo on and theyre the only dps that does things very differently when in an instance.. this leads tot hem not having the same amount of group experience or awareness as other people...this of course assuming the hunter is the persons first character
