That's not exactly true. The difference between running 3s or 5s is very small, order of 5-10 dps. But as you gain more gear, like BT/Sunwell/Glaives, the 5s starts being clearly ahead due to Sinister Strike scaling up past Rupture in energy efficiency. And with some energy pooling with the exalted BT trinket, the 5s can guarentee a proc to pump that extra crit right into SS.
