Barrens Chat: All hands on deck

This week's comic I have decided to do by hand while waiting around for various people and events to catch up to my time line. In other words, the only thing I used my computer for this week was some minor touch ups, framing, straightening, and of course sticking it up here for all of you to razz.
I don't know how common a problem this is for other people, but when I'm actually playing World of Warcraft in the same room as my significant other, he tends to use me as his hotkeys. I'm the "M" key when he wants to know where we are on the map, for instance. I don't know if this is something that happens with everyone who plays in the same room as another person, or if it is just a singular case. Do any of you have instances like this one where you end up being the macro, hotkey, or info guide for someone else?
For the record, I'll go back to doing things with photoshop next week. Small drawings are evil.
See you next week!

Barrens Chat is a weekly comic strip that has gone back in time to the good old days of markers and pencils. Although the emo oozes were shiny, and the water elemental looked like a fun time, nothing beats some retro action. Don't worry, everything should be back to normal next week!Filed under: Horde, Tauren, Hunter, Shaman, Comics, Barrens Chat

My roommate does the same thing...I'm her wowhead.
niko Aug 28th 2008 5:46PM
I enjoyed that one. LULZ at the nubs.
PimpyMicPimp Aug 28th 2008 5:46PM
I kind of liked the hand drawn style.
daniel.roy Aug 28th 2008 5:52PM
I'd never thought I'd say this, but this is pretty good... for a third grader.
This is drawn by a third grader, right?
Linkage Aug 28th 2008 6:17PM
You know, I'd love to see the average 3rd grader draw as well as this. Unless of course that was hyperbole.
That was hyperbole, right?
Otherwise, that comment just sounds silly.
Drakkenfyre Aug 28th 2008 6:47PM
I like it how people who criticize like this probably can't do any better themselves, lol.
Edboy Aug 28th 2008 9:17PM
You'd have to be a complete moron to actually draw worse than this as an adult. Of course, those are the words I'd use to describe Meg, her fans, and their lame attempts to defend this comic by repeating whatever the critic said.
You want constructive criticism? I'm positive you can't draw anything and you should really get a new hobby. And I mean that in the nicest way possible. Megan you stupid witch, you.
As long as people like daniel.roy and I are around, we'll be fighting the good fight.

@Drakkenfyre
Ahh, that tired argument. How can Siskel and Ebert criticize an Uwe Boll movie, since they have never made a movie themselves?
This isn't kindergarten where everyone is special. Any artist needs to be able to accept criticism, in order to learn and grow as an artist. You learn nothing from people kissing your ass. This criticism was particularly harsh, even juvenile, and it certainly doesn't make us take him seriously, but you can't seriously say that artists are beyond criticism.
Smurk Aug 28th 2008 9:28PM
Just wanted to point out that Ebert did write movies, at least.
Drakkenfyre Aug 28th 2008 11:10PM
No, constructive criticism is fine. But most of the people who reply like that don't care about constructive criticism. They just want to insult the artist. Therefore, it's still safe to assume they can't draw better themselves, lol.

@Smurk
Does he really get cred for Beyond the Valley of the Dolls? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065466/synopsis
I'm just saying that I'm tired of the whole "you can't do better" argument. It's BS. "You suck, DIAF" isn't real criticism but it doesn't mean that negative criticism is automatically bad. Hell, I've slammed her before, but I at least tried to say WHY I thought it was weak. It's up to Megan if she wants to listen to the critics or not.
Regardless, Megan has massive stones to continue this strip despite the trashing she gets. I can't deny that.
Drakkenfyre Aug 29th 2008 12:11AM
The point of "you can't do better" isn't "you have no right to criticize because you can't do better", it's "It's ironic you call someone else's work crappy when you probably can't do much better either", lol.
I am not taking up for or criticizing the artist. I am just sick of idiots insulting every thing they see that isn't done "perfectly" in their eyes. I have seen some awesome things that people trashed simply because they didn't like the subject matter (See: YouTube, lol.) If you have constructive criticism, fine. But if you only want to insult the artist, you deserve whatever comments you get, lol.

I only have atlas on one computer and so if my brother is playing it he has to constantly look at stuff for me. Its the price of playing the better computer which it is on.
But to be honest Im usually his information biznitch
forthepie Aug 28th 2008 6:36PM
Sounds like it's time to vendor or DE the boyfriend.
Nick S Aug 28th 2008 7:03PM
Typical roommate conversation...
"Hey, man, where does [X Item of Eternal Power] drop again?"
"Dude, you have Atlasloot."
"Yeah, but you just know."
/facepalm I think maybe I play too much...
Edboy Aug 28th 2008 9:08PM
well, that explains why your comic's crap. You have the intelligence of a first grader.
Also, in before lame attempts at trying to turn my comment to me. This is my insult make your own, goddamn it.
Megan Harris Aug 28th 2008 10:39PM
Technically, you just stole daniel.roy's comment and just knocked off a few grades.
Warcloud Aug 29th 2008 12:46AM
And the only thing less intelligent would be.. somebody who keeps coming back to read it?
Edboy Aug 29th 2008 1:44AM
I don't read it, I look at it and find things to make fun of. Frankly, I'm just here to make fun of the artist because I'm determined to hurt her emotionally and make her give up.
What started as a simple "I don't like it" has transformed into a vendetta. Isn't it funny how that works?
Warcloud Aug 29th 2008 2:46AM
It says a lot about you, that's for sure.
