Nesingwary's extinction plan (hasn't worked)
Players have been doing the math on the notorious Hemet Nesingwary (murderer of animals everywhere), and on the forums, Stubblez has figured out that if you follow all of Nesingwary's beast-killing instructions to the letter, you're responsible for murdering 278 of Azeroth and Outland's fauna. Of course, most players kill even more than that (and there are other quests that ask you to kill even more animals), but even if you take those total numbers and multiply them by the 10 million players Blizzard claims, you get two billion, seven hundred and eighty million animals, all slaughtered in the name of Nesingwary. And that doesn't even count alts.Fortunately, as Neroblanc notes, all that killing hasn't actually thinned the Azerothian animal population at all -- if anything, the beasts in Stranglethorn Vale are herding thicker than they used to be. We'll have to nuke them from orbit just to get rid of all those Raptors down there.
But that, of course, doesn't keep the hippie animal lovers from fighting back -- as you might know by now, in the expansion Nesingwary is going to face some opposition in the form of D.E.H.T.A., or Druids for the Ethical and Humane Treatment of Animals. We have a feeling that Hemet's impeccable taste in leather and animal-skin based wear, not to mention his classic novel, probably won't be too much protection against the do-gooders.

I heart skinning critters & the Nesingwary quests are delightful. Next thing you know, DHETA will be having famous Azerothians posing nude for woodcuts saying "I'd rather go naked than wear a Primalstrike Vest."

I am in favor of this.

The whole DEHTA is the most embarrassing thing to happen to the druid class ever.
In protest, I'm going to kill every animal I see in Northrend even if I don't need it for a quest.

Non-human virtual animals have rights too! Don't be so corporal centric!
I blame these hunters for artificially inflating the population by killing off many of the animals natural predators. In addition to that, they hunt the strongest of the animals, weakening the gene pool. All this suffering for what? Vanity? Phat l00t?
Nature always finds a balance. What you fail to consider is that these animals make up for this savage hunting by reproducing more frequently and producing more offspring to fill in the gap left by the slaughter of others.
Go DEHTA! We love your work!

Will I be able to kill and skin DEHTA members?
Jewbanks Aug 28th 2008 4:14PM

As a rogue I look for the weakest animals to kill rather than the strongest.

Dr. Nesingwary is simply fighting an over population problem. These beasts in various regions reproduce at a rate even higher than that of a Tribble!
As far as the D.E.H.T.A goes. I will personally kill each and everyone of these members that I can for trying to interrupt Dr. Nesingwary's vitally important work!

Aww man, why is it the druids that have to be associated with the fringe kook crowd?

My favorite part of this is that one of the druids main forms, the lion, hunts and kills other animals!
RogueJedi86 Aug 29th 2008 4:02AM
The Night Elf Druid cat form isn't a lion. If anything, it's a panther, looks just like the ones in Northern STV.

What's all the fuss? I assume all the animals just run back to there corpses and rez like the rest of us
