Leatherworking recipes in 8885
Some exciting new abilities for leatherworkers have appeared in Beta build 8885. Namely, the ability to enchant our own gear, and not through the use of kits. Soon we'll be able to line our armor with fur, creating a range of effects. All of the following can only be used on the leatherworker's bracers, and will cause the item to become soulbound.
[Fur Lining: Attack Power]: Permanently enchant bracers to increase attack power by 120.
[Fur Lining: Stamina]: Permanently enchant bracers to increase stamina by 90.
[Fur Lining: Spell Damage]: Permanently enchant bracers to increase spell power by 70.
Aside from the above three, there are linings that increase fire, frost, shadow, nature and arcane resistance respectively, each by 60.
I love this addition because our kits cannot be used on bracers, and this will allow leatherworkers to personally modify their own bracers in ways that no one else can.

This seems incredibly overpowered. I can't wait to see how much more OP my rings are going to get as an enchanter.

added to that I as an engineer start getting a little concerned with all of the armor class tradeskills getting these very powerful self-only item enhacements.
I mean, making any boots into rocketboots is awesome, but it turns into a lame joke again when I could have one of these fur linings instead.

@bumble
I totally agree. When do Engineers get anything that isn't silly or useless (smoke flares anyone? 4 colors!). We can add haste to our gloves, but I'm sure a fur lining will do more.
Bliz, balance this out please :)

looks like they want to replace bracers Enchantment's enchants with these, or expanding the possibilities to get all these buffs ^^

i figured it out,
wowinsider is like a mommy bird.
she goes around and gather up all the existing information from sites that break news stories,
then regurtates it to us a few hours later after its had time to digest.
then we are supposed to eat it like it new news.

That's the idea of a metablog. Grats on finally catching on.

Well, as for rings:
Remember that a LW is sacrificing a bracer enchant to get a fur-lining, and he can only wear 1 fur-lined bracer at a time.
An enchanter is not sacrificing anything (can't put regular enchants on rings anyway), and has two rings to enchant, so the benefits should be roughly 40% imo. Say 50 attack power, 35 stamina, or 30 spell power. Or, +6 stats.

Ahhh, spell damage... this makes my druid really happy.

I think ring enchants should be op when all is said and done, not individually but combined of course... But this i completely biased because I leveled enchanting the hard way back in vanilla wow and it really gave me nothing but a source of revenue that I wasnt really that industrious with... I got no gear out of it.. So I want to be rewarded.. But we are getting epic wands so I guess its ok if the other trade skills are treated well.

Although the LW is giving up a bracer enchant, I think that +90stam is ridiculously OP. I mean, the current +stam bracer enchant is 12, i'm not sure what the new one in WOTLK will be, but it'll probably be like what, 20? 24?
BS's get to add a gem socket to their bracers and gloves, but even the best +stam gem (currently) is only +15 (so +30 total).
Miners get a passive +35.
As it stands, all Tanks will have to pick up LW to get a +90 stam buff. I know i'd drop mining for it.

Booya!
We get a BoP item that's useful!
Totally makes up for not being able to make a mount/the drums neft.

Makes me wish I could switch my max skilled leatherworking over from my in-active rogue to my tankadin.
:(

I'm really glad I stuck with Leatherworking/Enchanting now!
