Breakfast Topic: Titles! Titles! Titles!

What do you guys think of the new titles? Frankly, I think a lot of them are pretty darn cool. But seriously, in all likelihood, these first-to-Level-80 characters will have little to no experience of Northrend. Your realm's first Archmage is likely to have no standing with the Kirin-Tor, for example. The first Paladin to Level 80, your realm's so-called Crusader, will most probably have grinded and not actually done any quests for the Argent Crusade. Perhaps Blizzard will have some retroactive titles, such as Conqueror / Justicar or even Scarab Lord, which wasn't implemented until after most AQ gates had been opened. What're your thoughts on the new titles?

They should make it so you have 24 hrs after the frist to get there, there still will NOT be a LOT of players with the tital but there will be a few more :)

I personally was hoping for more titles for killing large amounts of things i.e. " Boarbane" etc etc.
And since i know I'm not going to get any of the "first to" titles i have to say I'm a little disappointed.

I don't have any desire to try to level in the first couple of weeks, so the 'first' titles hold no appeal.

Keep in mind that the first person to 80 gets 3 titles.

Those titles won't be won by any player leveling up in the spirit of the game but rather will be won by groups of people that will be speed leveling 1-2 toons.
I am very surprised Blizzard wants to implement this kind of thing as it encourages the wrong sort of gamesmanship imho.

Grinding most likely won't work, most will level using questing and follow a general guide. Some may have an advantage and play with a few others, tapping the mob and then bombing it.
Don't see three people playing the same toon will turn out to be effective to be honest, it won't take more then two days for the first 80, 48 hours of playing is fine for one person who got sleep before hand. And two or three using the same toon will mean one or two of the others won't know the toon as well, the guy who knows how to make the most out of his toon will be the first.
Personally don't think ALL those titles should be given to server firsts, but I think some server first titles will be good. Maybe one main one and one for each class, doesn't REALLY need to be one for the races, that is getting a bit out of hand, and professions... Profession ones should be less exclusive.

All i can say is i really hate the direction blizzard is going in. Recruit a friend and make them do all the work for leveling up one of your alts, and now the Stay awake for a week and die from a stroke achievements. how bout some real achievments? being the first is cool and all.. they should get a gold star. But for raid kills ect... how bout they get special titles and everyone else gets less hearty ones? cus we all know how bad the bad boys can be.
But i supose in a game where all the developers can think about for making a quest is kill X of this or X of that. Or, get X of this but ull have to kill the guys around them... I miss Runescape's quests that had merit.

Most titles in WOTLK are just too easy to obtain and will be like "... of the Shattered Sun", meaning people will point and laugh at them.
Working on "Conqueror" myself and hoping to hit it during September. Since I like the PvP aspect in AB and WSG, its not a boring grind for me but a competitive way to pass time while I'm online. And this title is quite rare due to honor farmers generally just sitting in AV and lots of people dislike WSG.
I'm over 10k into Revered with AB and over 12k with WSG, so about 100 wins of AB and 85 of WSG to go. BG weekends will cut those numbers by -20. :)

IMO the trading titles should be available for anyone who take the time to BOTH lvl the skill to max AND get every pattern there is to get - the more patterns n skill the better title - so like medic for skill 375 and all the patterns to then, then doctor when u reach 450 and get all the patterns then. The traditional method to titles as i see it. In the olden days the title reflected skill, knowledge (and commitment to the trade guild - but as we dont have those im skipping the political part). In WOW skill is the number you have in the skill, and the knowledge is reflected by the patterns you know. This also would keep some ppl qing for rare patterns in the old world, at least that way it would retain SOME population in the older areas too.

That would probably end up biased though. For instance, I collect leather working patterns. There are about 6 that are alliance only (but obtainable). Alliance has vastly more cooking recipes than the horde can obtain (especially since many of these require quests).

I think the titles limited to one (or a few if all hit it within a minute of the first) to get it on the server is stupid. Everytime I see someone with one of the titles indicating they were first of their class/race to get to 80 all I'll think is, "there's someone who was willing to badger his friends, pay some acquaintances, or browbeat his guildmates into helping him power level to 80." No one is going to be first to 80 that didn't have help from friends in the form of "I tag it, you kill it while I tag something else."

Just like the "of the Shattered Sun" title. Everytime I see it I think, "a fool and their money are easily parted." Big deal, I have the tabard, the epic gear, what do I need a title for?
MechChef Sep 2nd 2008 1:37PM
I'm sure Ill try and secure achievements like "the Hallowed" and "the Explorer." Though at the end of the day, I'll likely still sport my scout title. I feel being pre-bc still counts for something.
