Karazhan three manned on the Wrath beta
A lot of people who read Ask a Beta Tester regularly have been asking about how easy Burning Crusade heroics will be at level 80. Can they be 3 manned? Can they be duo'd? This one's for you, guys. I decided it's worth a mention all on its own.
Three players, two Death Knights and a Priest, have recently trio'd almost the entirety of Karazhan, minus only Nightbane due to not having completed the quest needed to summon him. Admittedly both Death Knights were using a deep Unholy build which is tuned a little high now, but they're not wearing any high end gear, either. The spec that the tank used is a bit unusual for an Unholy Tanking build. They didn't take Bone Shield, and I suspect Magic Suppression being bugged had something to do with its exclusion, though that may have been fixed and I missed it. A fun little detail they discovered is that Gift of Arthas, which procs a disease, is counted as one of your diseases as a Death Knight and augments abilities that scale depending on how many diseases you have active such as Death Strike.
So there's your answer, ladies and gentlemen. Karazhan can be 3-manned before any raid gear is available, so Burning Crusade heroics will surely be able to be duo'd if you're still hoping and praying for Anzu come level 80.

It makes me wonder if this is something that could be done by any group of 80s or whether DKs are overpowered
Alex Ziebart Sep 3rd 2008 9:47AM
Unholy is tuned a bit high at the moment, but I wouldn't say they're immensely overpowered. This could probably be done by 4 anything-elses assuming you have a tank and a healer in the mix.
When low raid gear starts becoming available it will become vastly easier. I see 3-man Karazhan becoming commonplace, and possibly used as a benchmark like Onyxia.

This was done in quest and 80-instance gear on all parts. Imagine after you get a couple raids in. Even if abilities are scaled back a bit, I'm sure it'll be no issue.

While not entirely surprising (considering UBRS can be easily duo'ed after passing through the gate), this is awesome.

Cue Blizzard pulling a ZA and removing the Raven mount from Anzu's loot tables.

I think a lot of people are missing the point. The bear isn't getting taken away because it's easy to get, it's because you're guaranteed to get one if you beat the timer (which is also pretty much guaranteed at 80). Baron's mount is still in the game, even though he can easily be duo'd (and solo'd by many classes), because it's a LOW drop rate. So is the raven. It'll stay.

Because god forbid a casual player gets a cool mount after he gets to a point where he can finally see said content that drops the cool mount. For a game prided on its casual appeal, they like to make things impossible to get for casuals. And Tier 5 raiders who can handle ZA and beat the timer ain't casual.
They could've mixed in the Bear with several of the trash drops in the final chest and given it a 0.005% drop like the ZG mounts, but nope, no bears for casuals. People keep claiming there'll be more in WotLK for casuals, but there's nothing out of beta yet. The only other bear mount will be a BlizzCon goodie. If you're not a casual who can fly to LA to BlizzCon, you're SOL again.
How did I get to ranting about bears?
Manatank Sep 3rd 2008 12:13PM
@RogueJedi86:
Most high end guilds are still selling bear mounts for 10Kg. Plenty of casuals have this mount. Don't fret. You can still get one if you talk to these guys soon.

since they're taking or the ZA bears, I wish they would remove the Raven mount too. It won't have the same prestige if every level 80 druid can just stealth in and farm Anzu once a day, or bring a friend and duo him.
Of course, I can say that because I got my Raven mount in January.
Manatank Sep 3rd 2008 12:14PM
I thought Anzu could only be summoned once per druid for their epic flying mount quest?
Verit Sep 3rd 2008 1:57PM
Nope - once you turn in the quest you get a special key in your bag to summon him as often as you like (once per day).
While I see the boss being 2 maned - I can't imagine soloing him. He hits really hard if you don't have hots on the various aspects. Dealing with the bird ads would be difficult at best for a feral druid as well.
Not to mention you still need to clear out that entire room to start the event, and you can't skip the first boss anymore.

My guild, which is lacking in both members and gear is hoping to 5-man the Temple of AQ once we get five guys up to 80.
Hooray for old content! :D
Alfred R. Baudisch Sep 8th 2008 9:56AM
Actually it is very easy, we downed 1 boss with 2 paladin - 1 mage. I think with some more can easily do all AQ.
Of course, I am talking about AQ 20 =x, AQ40 is another 1000 words.
Wibblymat Sep 3rd 2008 10:44AM
At 70 we already 6 manned 2 bosses in MC for a laugh once... had a good tank and 2 good healers so we could go all day, which was fine because 3 level 70 dpsers don't do anywhere near as much damage as 35 level 60 dpsers :)
So yeah, if you are good you might be able to 5 man some of AQ already.
Nick S Sep 3rd 2008 11:22AM
2-manning a couple of bosses in ZG is a common enough pastime. Tank, healer, pewpew.
It's fun. :-)

Brilliant!

This is great news for anyone with a Druid that won't have epic flight before Wrath. If Kara can be done by three with no raid gear, Anzu will be cake.
Has anyone tried to solo DM for the Warlock mount quest post-70?
Manatank Sep 3rd 2008 12:19PM
Anzu is already cake. It is only a heroic. I don't even have any tier gear.
My paladin pretty much soloed DM for my level 60 warlock's mount quest.
JDM Sep 3rd 2008 4:27PM
@Manatank
My casual feral druid alt (tier-4/S2) has been trying to get its epic flight form for over a year now, and cannot even make it TO the boss, much less kill him. This is using various guild members, all in Kara/badge/S2 gear (nothing special, but we're not in greens or anything silly).
The instance might be "just a heroic", but it's one of the hardest heroics in the game right now.
I'll definitely be looking forward to running it again at 80 to try and get my epic flight form.
Paul Sep 3rd 2008 7:29PM
I suspect that the mechanics of the warlock epic mount encounter will prevent it from being soloed, regardless of level. You need somebody else to take care of the spawning mobs while the warlock keeps the bell, wheel and candle active. Any damage to the warlock interrupts the process, and the ritual fails if all three items become inactive.
