WoW Insider has the latest on the Mists of Pandaria!

[1.Local]: The view from the back room

Reader comments – ahh, yes, the juicy goodness following a meaty post. [1.Local] ducks past the swinging doors to see what readers have been chatting about in the back room over the past week. Be sure to dive into the comments area of each thread (not this one!) and add your own thoughts – unlike your mama, we like us some hot, fresh backtalk.

New titles for Wrath
Are Wrath titles that reward players for being first to achieve various goals worth the pixels they're printed on? "I really would like to see these titles be awarded for time frames rather than 'first to,'" laments Sels. "For example, the race/class titles being awarded to everyone who hits 80 within two weeks, or a month ... maybe the profession ones for anyone who hits that achievement within a week. Also, I foresee some guy with five accounts of the same class multiboxing together getting 80 first. Makes me sad panda."

Go get your free gems for September
Here's a question for fellow readers from dphyled about how rep is determined for the monthly Consortium gem disbursement: "Is it determined by your rep at the beginning of the month or at the time you go to pick up the gems? Like if you hit exalted in the first week of the month, then went to get your gems after that, would you get the bag of premium gems?"

Erratic of Thunderlord
Readers have been asking for The Colosseum interviews with less popular PvP classes – and Michael Gray delivered with a look at a top-rated Hunter.

"He said there are problems (LOS issues and the like), but he obviously overcame them, which is what sets him apart from a huntard," notes hpavc, defending against the inevitable cries of "Huntard"! "I think there will be more BM spec with the boosts to pets in the xpac.

"MM seems to be in a place where if it gets buffed, it will be insane with other combinations, and they need to figure out the fall out of the 'clash of raid buffs' first. It would be nice to see TSO get some love, for sure. It's been horrible for a long, long time."

Riding Crop in flux
Blizzard wants to improve the implementation of the Riding Crop in Wrath, they haven't yet come up with a solution they're pleased with. Neither, it seems, have readers. "Wait a minute," notes evankimori. "Riddle me this. I either don't understand what some people are trying to say, or I've missed the point entirely.

"Turning the Crop/carrot into a learnable ability (esque, check your General tab for a passive ability that gives mounted speed bonus) ... so basically, you buy a Riding Crop, right click, learn it, done. Ok, understandable, you free up a trinket slot, so everyone's happy. But why all the decrying that it's not feasible?

"You buy ONE riding crop per single character per server. There's no reason currently to buy multiple ones right now, and your one crop works across the board for your X amount of mounts, no matter the species, size or how you attained it. Sure, Paladins with Crusader Aura and Druids in FF don't get the bonus, but what's all the decry about that there'll be no profit for LW in future? Not like it'll make a difference now. Why?

"Nobody needs more than 1 Crop per 'toon. One crop = all mounts. See exempted classes and abilities. And before you ask: yes, even Druids need a Crop for ground mounts where FF is not allowed. Most leatherworkers don't even craft and sell Riding Crops unless they're in need of a few LW points. They either craft on request or sell the ones that they made for the few points and move on. It's a clear-cut waste of a Primal Might if you keep crafting with the intention of selling, unless Might prices on your server are low so the break-even line is more in your favor with profit. And come WOTLK with rarer farmers of older world materials, prices will rise.

"Bottom line: where is the problem here? Blizz doesn't intend to give LW an upper hand and become more profitable with a change to the RC, making them craft more and make more money (see the comment on the crop having 'charges' and each mount consumes a charge). And they surely want to convenience the normal player by freeing up a slot or making it more usable without a negative side."

Allow me to introduce my shield to your face
Shields should bash things. Hard. That's the opinion of Candina@WH: "Don't like PVPing against Warriors much, but having done 13 years of Western martial arts -- i.e., hitting people with swords, spears and axes -- Shield Slam should get a knockdown, stun or knock-back effect. And it should get a 'foul weapon' disarm effect against people using two-handed weapons. Trust me, it works. You can also do snatch Disarms with a shield.

"And Disarm should destroy a Hunter's bow ;-) -- not that I am bitter.

"For the record, I don't play a Warrior, so if they already get a stun effect, I'm sorry for being a dolt."

Is Recruit-a-Friend a game-killer?
Is Recruit-a-Friend the death of WoW (or reason for another good round of hyperbole)? "I only read a sampling of comments," admits Rik. "Just to be short and to the point, I think expansions are more of a game-breaker than the RaF. What happens to Kara, SSC, The Eye, BT and Sunwell when the expansion hits? They go the way of BWL, MC, Ony, AQ40 and ZG -- forgotten memories of WoW past.

"Frankly, if you have leveled a 70, you should be able to start at 55, regardless. Do you really need to jump through the pre-Outland hoops? At this moment, it all begins in Outland anyway. This will be the case when Wrath of the Lich King goes live. Everyone will rush to Northrend, and Outlands will be that place you pass through on your way to 80. You might PUG a Ramparts run for the quest gear, maybe even another mid-70s five-man, but that's about it. You'll charge forward diligently towards 80, the way I ground my latest 70 right past all the Outland five-mans.

"What does bug me about RaF is the desire to pour on 'rewards' to new players. What about veteran players? Yes, there are quest events like Brewfest. But what about just rewarding players who have paid your subscription costs for 2 and 3+ years? How about giving them a unique mount or triple XP for their next new character? That's what really bothers me more."

Around the world playing World of Warcraft
And finally, this isn't actually a post comment but rather an e-mail that came in on our tip line – but it so represents the camaraderie and solidarity between our readers that we simply had to share.

"Name: Martin Larsen

Subject: Lisa Poisso; 15 mins of fame

"Hi,
In 15 Minutes of Fame, Lisa interviews a guy who travels around a lot. I noted that he wanted a copy of Diablo 2. I have a few spare copies lying around even with the expansion pack. If she can get me in touch with him, I can send him mine, then he has something to do while waiting for Wrath.

"Have a nice day."

Indeed!
