7-Eleven to have Wrath midnight release

However, that's not actually the case. Their Madden sales turned out to be quite the success, and their demographic is rather gamer heavy. Man, who would have thought a 24-hour convenience store would attract a lot of young gamers? My mind is boggled. As of this season, 7-Eleven has begun offering pre-orders of select major upcoming releases (such as Wrath of the Lich King) at their locations. All of their offerings will have midnight releases at the 24/7 chain, so your next midnight release party might just take place between a Slurpee machine and a beef jerky rack. I have a feeling they won't be holding any costume contests.
Oh, if you're curious, 7-Eleven says Wrath in November, too. Man, I could actually go for a Slurpee right now. AFK.

Reserve your copy of WotLK now @ 7-11 and get your free sample of Zevhra Beef Jerky!

Hey, if I can get a free Slurpee with purchase, I'm there! Nah, I'm too lazy, D2D, here I come!
Evan Sep 5th 2008 11:56AM
Correct me if I'm wrong, but won't WotLK be available for paid download from blizzard upon release?

I doubt it. They didn't do this for BC. And despite some criticism for not doing that I think they loved the press the midnight release created for them

In Japan, 7-Eleven has become quite successful as a result of selling video games, consoles, CDs, DVDs, and the like. A quick glance shows that most of the 7-Eleven stores are actually in Japan, so maybe they're trying to take a page from their book?

Spelled November wrong.

Oi. Fixed them both. My morning caffeine infusion had not yet kicked in apparently. Thanks for pointing those out.

Slim jim beef jerky is the worst jerky in the world. Last time I bought it (about 7 years ago) 1 bite and I had a thick layer of grease on the top of my mouth.

Would be cool if this happened. 7-11 is closer to my home than Gamestop, plus I'd get coffee.

This.

Here in thailand 7-11 sells movies, music and games (although not many games honestly, and everything they sell is copies...but that's thailand for you). maybe they're just finally deciding it is a workable business model in the states.

I wonder if the 7-Eleven in my town will be doing that... Probably not but it'd be cool if they did. But even then, will they have the collectors edition?
Smallviille Sep 5th 2008 12:46PM
i used to live on the west coast and 7-11 was the place to be ..Now i live on the east coast and damn i wish we had one out here....

Oh man... I may not buy mine @ 7-11, but I want to be there when the toothless, methadone-numb bridge trolls who usually work the graveyard shift at most of the 7-11s around here are swarmed by WoW addicts at the stroke of midnight. Thats gonna be some gooood people-watchin'.

This is a really good idea in markets where 7-11's are everywhere. I remember when I lived in Chicago there were 7-11's everywhere, and I went n got drinks there all the time to fuel my gaming addiction. Now you can go get your self a big gulp and pick up WOTLK all in one trip. I like it.

I'll be finding a place with a costume contest, thanks. I don't get much excuse to trot out my Blizzcon costume, so I might as well go find someplace to show it off. Even if it means walking to the mall at midnight and walking home in a floor-length dress. Probably in the rain.

I miss Slurpees! They don't have 7-11 in Georgia. :( Sure, I can get a "slushy" or whatever they call it at QuikTrip, but it's just not the same.

I think this a great idea. I know last year I tried pre-ordering via amazon yet canceled when I realized my copy of bc wouldn't arrive until several days after release. Luckily there is a game stop about a mile from my house. But the 7-11 is only 3 blocks away. So if my 7-11 has it on release night I will most likely go there instead. Not only is it closer, I would expect it would have a shorter line than the gamestop.
