BigRedKitty: Rhino II
Daniel Howell contributes BigRedKitty, a column with strategies, tips and tricks for and about the Hunter class, sprinkled with a healthy dose of completely improper, sometimes libelous, personal commentary.
The one hunter-pet that hadn't had his special spell revealed already in the Wrath of the Lich King beta was our beloved, delicate, diminutive Rhino. Say no more! The 8885 WotLK beta-build has fixed that, and with a vengeance.

When I first saw that Clefthoof being knockbacked, I knew: MUST ROLL HUNTER WITH RHINO XD

Leaving my 16 hunter now
JohnC Sep 5th 2008 1:08PM
awesome, i see this being great fun in arathi defending the lm flag
Wither Sep 5th 2008 1:33PM
Yeah hehe, of course the real beauty of this is it's AoE knockback. In AV, I'd like to see 10 enemy players knocked off the bridge defending Dun Baldar...
If you see a rhino, RUN!
Soatari Sep 5th 2008 1:33PM
Oh indeed! And the bridge at DB in AV. And the flag in Eye of the Storm.
Matazuma Sep 5th 2008 1:23PM
STAMPEDE!!!!!!!!!
Mark Sep 5th 2008 4:45PM
Arathi hell, I'm thinking of about 8 hunters with Rhinos defending the bridge in AV.
Then again, there'll probably be 15 horde hunters with Rhinos attacking it, so who knows.

The tank battles of Northrend ...
Bart Sep 5th 2008 1:55PM
Wow, the Rhino is one fugly pet
Skyflur Sep 5th 2008 1:57PM
No it's not sweet or awesome, it looks like crap.
Metal_Gear Sep 5th 2008 2:00PM
If this sticks for the patch, I guess it will be Rhino, no Devilsaur anymore ^^
sharkeater75 Sep 5th 2008 2:01PM
BM hunters weren't OP enough.

Can we pre-suppose that it works on unlimited enemies and interrupts casting? Because a 42 second cooldown on that is definitely fun.
One last thing is worrying me about WotlK pets: I haven't seen Charge at all. That's the reason why I like my boar (and Felguard) so much. Now it's going to be in the Ferocity tree, inaccessible to pigs, but Petopia says Gore is kinda sorta like it?
Melf Sep 5th 2008 4:01PM
Charge is now available to Tenacity (tanking) pets, such as Boars and Rhinos.
Check http://blue.mmo-champion.com/3/9023656642-boars--charge-the-now-lost-fun-factor.html to see where Blue says it, and if you look at the pet calculator on WoWHead (http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?petcalc) you can see that they have it built into the calculator where Charge used to be.

I can see the uses of rhinos in PVP. I'm sure people will start complaining about the knock back.
Tim Sep 5th 2008 2:41PM
This just doesn't look right.
They should link it to Charge or whatever so the knockback makes sense physically, and limit to that. Don't allow it to be used once combat has begun, unless the mob runs away and space opens up between the rhino and him to permit another Charge. With this change, the ability makes sense and stops being overpowered.

lol fun stuff, thanks Daniel
So many servers will be full of BM hunters and DK's. This should be interesting. Me, I'm staying survival :P
rawrawrawr Sep 5th 2008 8:21PM
Realms full of BM hunters? I couldn't possibly imagine that!
Candina@WH Sep 5th 2008 3:37PM
wow... that is one slow ass pet....
RogueJedi86 Sep 5th 2008 4:03PM
Rhinos aren't exactly renown for being speed demons.
