Oh, the cleverness of me!

Yeah, even I don't believe me.
While I'm certain I'll never make a Death Knight my main, I'm sure I'll enjoy leveling one. I'm sure I'm not going to enjoy trying to level one alongside 50,000 other people and their cousins and their friends and their friends' dogs and their friends' dogs' fleas leveling a Death Knight. So it's occurred to me that, OK as I am with the notion of waiting a few months to get started on my bouncing baby bundle of risen-corpsified merriment, I can capitalize on the coming rush of Death Knights in a completely different fashion simply by exercising a little foresight. All Death Knights are melee, right? None of them can really heal, right? People are already noticing un peu problem in the beta in this vein, right? And I can't level an alt worth beans, right right? Right. What's the one buff that makes all melee salivate, provided by an excellent healing class, during a time in which healers will never have to worry about finding a group or a tank?
Bingo. I'm getting a resto Shaman to 58 and parking him in Eastern Plaguelands to twiddle his thumbs in anticipation of the descent of the Death Knight legion come Wrath's release. See you there!

I'm sure you're a very nice person but I don't see why this article is on WoW insider.
Insider please get the site back to how it used to be.

Write a better post yourself then.

quiet you. The only reason I even visit this site is the fact that it's not pure news. There are plently of other wow news sites that offer up that kind of dish so if you want that go elsewhere.

Why not get to 62 and part him right there? Or heck even to 70. You would be really sought after, even rockin the green healing gear DK would be asking you for the crazy OP heals Shamans do.
Allison Robert Sep 6th 2008 3:35AM
I've thought about doing that too. EPL, as I just wrote a little farther down the thread, is likely to be in total gridlock for a while after Wrath hits, and Outland may well be the smarter choice.

u dont need healers to run instances in beta atm dk aggro ping pong and self healing is enough to run them :P
Nick S Sep 5th 2008 4:22PM
I've heard that several times now... and it frightens me deeply.
JDM Sep 6th 2008 3:09AM
It's quite true. Just get your 5 DK's, with at least 2 of em Blood, and you're good to go.
Heilig Sep 5th 2008 3:40PM
Too bad WF totem is being turned into a haste buff instead of the free swing.
Reinard Sep 5th 2008 3:41PM
Hehe, love the title. Clever indeed :)
Alch Sep 5th 2008 3:41PM
Just go to outlands and wait. That is where all the DKs are going the second they get done with their quest line anyway.
Metal_Gear Sep 5th 2008 3:54PM
If the huge masses of DKs that get to Hellfire have even the slightest amount of brain matter between them they will group and be such a power house, healing wont be needed apart from the Elites in the North West part of the zone.
Everything else I think could be taken by the DKs alone... I think... oh wait, there is an Elite 63 in the area isn't there for a Q...
JDM Sep 6th 2008 3:10AM
Those big rock guys? DK's can solo them at 61 with ease.
mcgayver Sep 5th 2008 4:01PM
I love the way you formulate a sentence. I'm not kidding.
Anyway, I too am terrible at leveling. Without the need to explore the atmospheric world and storyline, I wouldn't have managed to reach 70. Even at this level I keep exploring the most unknown, often restricted, spots in Azeroth, instead of gaining uber leet gear.
Joining the beta (if even possible :-)) would ruin everything!

What was this article supposed to be about? Ms. Robert should probably take a college level English course and then return to writing. I guess what I took away from this article is that it's okay for everyone to have a death knight character, because it's going to be a unique experience for you. Don't worry about what everyone else is doing. My death knight is mine. See how I had a point there?

I respectfully disagree.
When everybody and their moms play the same f*ckin' class, and that class is so OP, it annoys me, and makes the game boring, 'dumber'...
I really want to play this new class becuase I love Death Knights (lore-wise), but at the same time I don't want to take part in this army of clones.
Anyway, I'm making my DK a tank (don't know which spec yet) because it's the only class I find 'funny' enough to tank with. And that will somehow distinguish me from the rest of the DK crowd IMO, beacuse every single noob will be a Dps DK, just to yell at Dalaran "OMGZ IM SO OP LOL GG" /dance.
My 2 copper.

I had the same thoughts myself when I was leveling a healer. However think about what is really going to happen here. You're going to be a hot commodity for sure, but are you SURE you want to be around for the DK wave? Are they good players, are they bad players, have they ever tanked? They've played the class for a whopping 3 levels by the time they catch you at 58. Not to mention all the random builds we'll get without Elitist jerks forums to babysit everyone and tell them what talents to take.
Yeah, I'll pass on all that. If you want my opinion I'd level a bit after 58 every time you hit the max rest bonus. You might get to 70 before the expansion and be able to enjoy the new content with others instead of stuck in outland running instances with 4 noob death knights.

I've been running a DK through beta - Outlands 5-mans stand no chance against 5 DK's (as they stand now). Some of the bigger pulls can be a problem, but for the most part, bosses drop faster than with a balanced group. 30-minute Ramps and BF runs with level 58-62 DK's are the norm.
Allison Robert Sep 6th 2008 4:11AM
That's what I keep hearing, but a lot of us are expecting the nerf bat to descend any day now. I'm pretty sure DK's aren't intended to be powerful to the point of not requiring a healer for most 5-man content, but we'll see. We won't really know until Wrath actually ships, but even allowing for the current reality that 5 DK's can easily handle current Outland content, the one thing I can count on is that players will get pretty sick of running one-class groups where everyone is competing for the same drop.
Andrew Welch Sep 8th 2008 7:29AM
I think that they will be OP for at least the early parts of Outlands but when they hit Northrend they should calm down a bit.
Hopefully.
