Shaman glyphs in Beta build 8905

Glyph of Water Breathing
Your Water Breathing spell no longer requires a reagent.
An excellent glyph. I'm a huge fan of these no-reagent glyphs for obvious reasons. Although Shiny Fish Scales are abundant and cheap, they do take up bag space. What I like about these types of glyphs is that they'll literally pay for themselves over time because there's a direct cost. The best part of this? It now works exactly like the Warlock spell and can be used as an additional buff in PvP without worrying about running out of Shiny Fish Scales (e.g., it still consumes a reagent in Arenas).
Glyph of Water Walking
Your Water Walking spell no longer requires a reagent.
Another cool glyph, although it's not as good as for PvP buff stacking since it's removed as soon as the target takes damage. With this glyph, however, you'll never hesitate to use Water Walking even over short distances, like crossing a river that would dismount you.
Glyph of Astral Recall
Cooldown of your Astral Recall spell reduced by 2.5 min.
Not so hot on this one because Astral Recall's 15 minute cooldown is already pretty short. I don't think I've ever had a situation where both my Astral Recall and Hearthstone were on cooldown and I wished to myself, "man, if only Astral Recall was usable again after 12 and a half minutes..."
Glyph of Renewed Life
All stats increased by 5% for 1 min when you Reincarnate.
A decent enough but situational glyph, since the stat increase is only important when rezzing in combat. When Reincarnation is used as wipe recovery, your health doesn't matter. If you find yourself rezzing a lot while in the middle of battle, such as in PvP, the extra 5% is kind of like a mini-Blessing of Kings.
Glyph of Water Shield
Increases the number of charges on your Water Shield spell by 1.
I'm not so sure how great this glyph is considering Water Shield is free, anyway. Since charges are consumed only every few seconds, the extra globe only means you won't have to cast it as soon as before. The only benefit to this glyph is activating the Global Cooldown fewer and farther between (free spells don't break the 5-second rule).
Glyph of the Black Wolf / Arctic Wolf
You appears as a black wolf / arctic wolf when using your Ghost Wolf spell.
Hooray for cosmetic glyphs! I'm all for personalization, and effects like these make the game a little more fun. I kind of like being all translucent, though...

My level 22 shammy who I plan on leveling is very happy right now.
atree496 Sep 5th 2008 10:19PM
Yea, so im only going to get the free reagent and Wolf one. lol

Pretty disappointing. I haven't put a ton of time into my shaman yet (staying at 59 for that oh-so-fun enhancement PvP action), but I can already say that the reagent removal glyphs should be rolled into one and that the rest are lackluster at best. Obviously there will be more to come, but these definitely aren't anything to be very excited about.

I agree they are all crap (except the ghost wolf image change).
Reagents aren't an issue. If you're serious about stacking buffs in arenas then you would spend an hour once a fortnight building up fish oils and scales.
2.5 mins off Astral Recall is pointless.
5% extra stats on Reincarnation is marginally useful.
Extra charge on Water Shield is virtually pointless too.

Actually, it is just stupid as hell.
Warlock reagents to breathe water?
Death Knight reagents to make their entire party able to cross water mounted?
Utterly stupid to make us use reagents for these.

doesnt water walking dispell as soon as you mount?
Zach Sep 5th 2008 10:44PM
Yes, it does. What I meant above was -- when crossing a body of water, you can break straight into a run by casting Water Walking right before you cross (dismounting you).
Zach Sep 5th 2008 10:46PM
Hmmm. Removed 'otherwise' so it doesn't seem as confusing. =D

Love cosmetic glyphs, too! Might have to level a Shaman just so I can use it =P

Well, for Minor Glyphs (or whatever they're called) they're not too bad. The water shield one will be kinda nice to have, since it'll basically give you 25% more time between casts (when taking damage), which can be nice considering how much micromanaging I'll have to do (keeping totems up, watching my group in case back-up healing is needed, keeping a Lightning Bolt/Flame Shock/Lava Burst rotation going, and so on).
The wolf ones are cool, but I never use GW.
It'd be cool if we had a couple glyphs that let us change what animal we turn people into with Hex, like the Mage penguin glyph. I remember in WC3, Hex could change someone into a hermit crab, and maybe a regular crab and/or a baby seal. There are so many minipets that we could change them into.
I'd also like to see a Greater Glyph that gives Earth Shield some dispell resistance.
Finally, I want a Glyph that changes the look of my totems. There are already some pretty cool troll-style totems in the game, and I want to be able to make them myself. But this one should probably be troll-only. Give orcs their own totem design too.

I think the Water Shield Glyph is pretty nice. Keep in mind resto shammies have a talent that fires off their water shield orbs (for the mana gain) when they crit heal. This is a great mechanic except it means they will have to refresh their Water Shield fairly often which does eat a GCD. That's 1.5 secs that would be better spent healing.
It's still not a jaw-droppingly awesome glyph, but I think it's fairly useful.

These are just cosmetic ones.. You must have missed the major ones when they were disclosed recently... Shamans have some of the best Glyphs in Beta so far.
Amaxe Sep 6th 2008 8:32AM
So the Rogues get their poisons and lockpicks without reagents, while we have to burn two of our Glyph slots to get the same?

Yay for completely useless glyph's! I can't wait to see the new glyph, glyph of FARTHER Sight. You can now see 60, 001 yards!
The cosmetic one is the only decent one. What a joke.
Meethan Sep 6th 2008 4:01PM
IMO, this glyphs aren't completely useless. The water sheild is a good choice considering downranking and if you've specced in the Resto tree, there's a talent which can absorb a water orb on a critical hit, instantly restoring mana.
Cookie McWeaksauce Sep 7th 2008 4:34PM
Aw... that water shield glyph used to add 3 charges. That was very nice for healers, in light of Imp. Water Shield.
Gridneo Sep 8th 2008 3:34PM
Comeon... Where is the Shammy Glyph that lets you use Ghost Wolf while you're dead... You know, GHOST Wolf...
