Here's a question that I don't think as been answered so far: Are Death Knights living, undead or a mix of both?Is it stated that when you start serving the Lich King as a Death Knight, you are required to die to then get resurrected from the grave to do his bidding?Arthas never truly "died" before starting to destroy Lordaeron, but he did use necromantic magic a whole lot, which seemed to have an impact on his physical self. Necromancy seems to take a toll on people, if we take a look at DK players and Necromancer npc's.Since some followers of the Lich King, like the Vrykul, Cult of the Damned and some troll tribes in Northrend are living, I was wondering if this also applied to the most fervent of his servants.

The Death Knight starting quests make it obvious that you did actually die and get resurrected to become a Death Knight. So technically, all Death Knights are Undead (but are marked Humanoid, likely for much the same reason PC Forsaken are).
