I think regarding the whole 'troll vs. arcane' thing...(First off - PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong!!) I think what the trolls hate about it is that really the first taste of arcane magic they got was from their most HATED enemies - the Quel'dorei. After the Highbourne were exiled, and they puttered about in that weird part of Tirisfal, they sailed to the northern tip of the continent. They happily built their awesome cities, to show how awesome they were...except that was ALL troll land. And they were quite cross about it. I think it was on WoWwiki where they mentioned that when the elves realized what a threat the trolls were, they erected these great runestones to keep them at bay. Alledgedly, the trolls freaked ('cause they're so superstitious) and...well...didn't like the arcane stuff. I don't know if any of it helps....Also, you /could/ say that the trolls are just used to their shamanistic and naturalistic beliefs, like the tauren, or orcs....especially the tauren; who view arcane magic as an unnnatural phenomenon. *shrug*
