Beta realms down tomorrow for maintenance

The Wrath beta realms are down as I type this. Not news, I know, for those who are actually in the beta. The realms seem to be unavailable frequently. I chalk this up to the nature of beta testing. However, today we actually got a heads-up on planned maintenance downtime, scheduled for tomorrow at the same time the live realms will be offline. Now, this is news to me because so far the patches to the beta have been released without any announcement. In other words, the only way I've found out updates were coming was that when I try to log on, and then I end up waiting an hour for everything to download and install. So now I'm intrigued. Will we need to install another beta patch after maintenance? Will the beta now move to planned maintenance instead of spontaneous crashes? (Okay, wait, that last question was just crazy-talk.) Or -- maybe the announcement of planned maintenance mean that the beta realms are ready for the release of patch 3.0.2 and all of its dreamy barbershop and achievement goodness! Oo, I can't wait!

i think that this is most likely a hint at the new content patch, ill keep an eye out for some patch news on the client, i am hoping for 3.0.2!!!!!

Maybe the beta client is just pulling in the maintenance notice for the regular realms?

I am really hoping for the "maybe the announcement of planned maintenance mean that the beta realms are ready for the release of patch 3.0.2" guess!

Talents are far from being balanced yet. 3.0.2 is still a few weeks ahead on live. If 3.0.2 is out tomorrow, it will more than likely be on the PTR, no way it's ready for live.

A fair comment. However, the timing of your post and mine could've been off and all realms could very well have been down at the same time. Also, you assumed that I am on a US server, not an EU one, didn't you? Still, I've made a note of it. Apologies.

According to a post on the Beta Bug Report Forum, the beta realms will be coming down at 9 am Pacific tomorrow morning for 1 to 2 hours

The 'Breaking News' on the login screen may be a carry-over from live. I have seen live 'Breaking News' carry over onto the beta login before.

Question, Would 3.0.2 even need to be seen on the ptr since that basicly whats being tested on the beta servers minus DK and Northrend?

Short answer: Yes. Long answer: Most of the testing being done is at or after seventy, and with much of the gear coming from Northrend. Not to mention that everything needs to be retested and recalibrated for live servers at the moment. As many, many people will tell you, the beta isn't ready for live yet, which means that 3.0.2 isn't ready for live yet either. They'll put it onto the PTRs and work out the kinks in both the beta and the content patch at the same time.

Breaking News has always carried over from live to Beta. It was up last week and I was happily betaing away during the scheduled maintenance. WoWinsiderfail.

*Rolls his eyes* Fail troll fails. On the beta forums it clearly states that the beta realms will be OFFLINE during regular live realm offline times. Learn some reading comprehension before shooting your mouth off.

Mind linking that Palladiamors? I can't find it.
I've not tried to log onto beta during Tuesday maint (you know, that whole "work" thing during the day)... But the news comes from live. Always has, even back during the BC beta. A week or so ago we got some "breaking news" about issues on certain live realms.
I have to agree, this is a fail for WoW Insider :P
