World of Warcraft comic hardcover collection reviewed
Well, I admit it: I've been reading the World of Warcraft comic (I'm up to issue ten) and enjoying it as a light bit of fantasy fare with lots of nice nods to the lore of the game. It's not trying to be more than that, I don't think, perhaps wanting to leave some room for this Wednesday's Ashbringer comic. However, it was news to me that there's a hardcover collection of the series out. Of course, where I fail, the folks at Blizzplanet succeed in not only knowing it was out, but in giving it an in-depth review. The review is positive, and the special goodies of concept sketches, Blizzcon exclusive issues and what sounds like a solid layout and design make me seriously consider saving my gold (I need real life daily quests) to pick this up. Feel free to head over to Blizzplanet and see if you agree with that sentiment.

What I liked about the hardback was the foreword by Chris Metzen which blatantly shows why they were so excited to work with Walt Simonson. It's an interesting nod to the comics that inspired the Warcraft mythos. I found it interesting in the current climate of Warhammer fanboys who are claiming that Blizzard got their entire IP form GW.

"Warhammer fanboys who are claiming that Blizzard got their entire IP form GW."
And LoTRO fans may argue that GW stole their entire IP from Tolkein...

Except GW didnt try to make a game consisting of LOTR lore then go make their own...
I think most people consider the GW/Blizzard more of an actual ripoff because blizzard was involved with GW.
Being inspired by something that you had read or seen is one thing. Being involved with that thing and making something closely resembling it is different.

That's about how many issues most comic hardcovers/TBPs have.

In what universe is Valeera's figure considered 'childlike'? Was she supposed to be a Lolita-style Blood Elf but Western comic artists just can't resist slapping a pair of C cup boulders on any female character?
I couldn't help but laugh at all the scenes in the comic with people exclaiming over Valeera's extreme youth when she's got that....extremely gifted rack with her pants cut up to East Jesus. Broll is going to have to send her right back to her room to -change that outfit-, young lady!

Sadly, it's rare you find anywhere close to an accurate portrayal of a youthful person in comics. But yeah, in Valeera's case, it's really pushing it. She's built like a barbie doll.
Poor thing, but at least she floats well.
